This Is Why RIHANNA Rocked Faux Locs In The “Ocean’s 8” Movie + Trailer

It’s no news that Bad Gal Riri has a mega influence on the beauty industry and especially now, with her inclusive beauty line, Fenty Beauty. When it comes to her hair, Rihanna’s journey over the years has been nothing short of colourful and super sassy. She has always been one to use her super-stardom for a good cause; so, it should come as no surprise that Rihanna chose to rock faux locs for her character in the Ocean’s 8 movie.

In the movie, due for release tomorrow, June 8, 2018, Rihanna stars alongside a stellar female-led cast which includes Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Mindy Kaling, Anne Hathaway, and Helena Bonham-Carter.

According to sources, Rihanna specifically requested for her Ocean’s 8 character, Nine Ball, to wear “dreadlocks.”  The hairstyle plays a huge part in forming her character in the movie. According to her hair stylist, Nine Ball is a Caribbean girl who just happens to be in America and Rihanna wasn’t just going to look like a typical American girl in this movie but wanted to wear locs in order to maintain that tie with Africa. She also keeps her Bajan accent in the movie. Talk about representing your culture unapologetically!

Though Rihanna gives us so many reasons to make us fall in love with her, her ability to start a trend is beyond and we have to say this particular move is a major win for natural black hairstyles. You’ll remember that Rihanna also rocked faux locs for a while in 2016 and since then the hairstyle has been a blockbuster across the world.

Check out Rihanna rocking faux locs on and off the set of Ocean’s 8…

We can’t wait to see Riri in Ocean’s 8 this weekend but until then, this trailer will suffice.
