1. Rihanna performs first full concert in eight years at Ambani family pre-wedding event in India

In a move that no one saw coming, Rihanna hit the stage for a full concert, her first since 2016, at the pre-wedding ceremony of Anant Ambani, son of the richest man in Asia (and one-time richest man in the world), Mukesh Ambani, in Jamnagar, India. The event, which took place on Friday, March 1, saw the multiple-Grammy winner perform renditions of her chart-topping singles, including “All of the Lights,” “Umbrella,” and “Stay.” Rihanna was reportedly paid $6.3 million for the gig.

Although Ambani and his 29-year-old girlfriend Radhika Merchant are not due to marry until July, the three-day festivities, which wrapped up on Sunday, March 3, was a satisfying precursor of what’s to come four months down the line. The festivities boasted an almost 1,200-person guest list including Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerberg, and Ivanka Trump, daughter of the former President of the United States, Donald Trump.

Popular burger chain, McDonald’s’ first-ever beauty collab with UK’s Nails.Inc is now live. The fast-food giant partnered with Nails.Inc. for its first-ever beauty collaboration which includes press-on nails, nail polishes, and nail stickers inspired by the restaurant’s signature colors, like bright red and gold, and legendary menu items like Big Macs and french fries.

Although this is McDonald’s first collab in the beauty sphere, it’s no stranger to fashionable collaborations. Back in 2022, the burger chain partnered with Cactus Plant Flea Market for a limited-edition Happy Meal for grownups: the Cactus Plant Flea Market Box. It has also partnered with Crocs and Verdy.

Originally announced back in February, the McDonald’s and Nails.Inc. collab is now available on Nail.Inc., Amazon, and Target. Prices start at just $7.

4. Nollywood actor, “Mr. Ibu” dead at 62

Nigerian veteran actor John Okafor, also known as “Mr. Ibu,” has passed away at the age of 62. Okafor, who had been struggling with health problems since October 2023, reportedly died of cardiac arrest on Saturday, March 2, at the Evercare Hospital in the Nigerian city of Lekki. He had been transferred to the intensive care unit just a few days earlier. News of his death was confirmed by Emeka Rollas, President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria.

Okafor starred in more than 300 Nollywood films, including those in the Mr. Ibu series, for example, Mr. Ibu (2004), Mr. Ibu 2 (2005), Mr. Ibu and His Son, Coffin Producers, Husband Suppliers, and others.

Our condolences to his family and friends.

5. LeBron James makes NBA history as the only player to reach 40,000 career points

LeBron James became the first NBA player to reach 40,000 career regular-season points in Saturday’s game against the Denver Nuggets. But he described it as “bittersweet” after his Los Angeles Lakers side lost 124-114 to the defending NBA champions. “Being the first player to do something, it’s pretty cool in this league,” said the 39-year-old, who scored 26 points on the night. “You just know the history, you know the greats that have come through.”

James scored the historic basket with 10 minutes and 39 seconds remaining in the second quarter with a driving lay-up from the left side of the basket to give the Lakers a 37-32 lead. The crowd gave James a standing ovation during a timeout and the ball he used to reach the milestone was removed from the game.

Congratulations to the legend!
