1. Beyoncé and Adidas reportedly end partnership, will no longer collaborate on Ivy Park

Beyoncé and Adidas are reportedly cutting ties. According to reports, the Ivy Park head and the lifestyle brand have ended their relationship due to creative differences. “Beyoncé is excitedly looking to reclaim her brand, chart her own path and maintain creative freedom,” the reports say. Beyoncé launched Ivy Park in 2016 with Topshop; their partnership ended in 2018, making her the sole owner. That same year, she re-introduced her clothing brand with Adidas, expanding Ivy Park’s offerings from just athletic gear to shoes and apparel.

This past January, Beyoncé teased Ivy Park’s forthcoming collaboration with Adidas, called Park Trail, at her private show in Dubai. At the end of that month, rapper Ice Spice also shared a few images from her fashion campaign with Bey’s brand. The collection boasts new performance apparel like jackets, faux fur coats, tracksuits, and hoodies. In a press release, the new line was described as a “trail-blazing expression of performance wear inspired by the resilience of the outdoors, the spirit of the streets, and the possibilities of the future.”

2. Rema and Tems set to become first Afrobeats artistes to perform at Lollapalooza

Following the massive success at the Grammy awards for talented female artist Tems and the recent success on the billboard hot 100 charts for Mavin records protégé Rema, the duo is set to rewrite history and become the first and only afrobeats artistes to perform at one of the biggest festivals in America, Lollapalooza. The Chicago-based festival would see Rema and Tems take on the stage with top acts such as Kendrick Lamar, Billie Eilish, Tomorrow X Together, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Odesza, Lana Del Ray, Karol G and so on.

Tickets for the festival, which will take place from August 3-6, can be gotten from the site.

3. South Africa: Blxckie jumps into studio with legend Nelly Furtado

Blxckie’s trip to the US has him making major moves, rubbing shoulders with renowned international stars. From shutting down his first performance in Los Angeles to performing at the South by Southwest (SXSW) 2023 event in Texas, Blxckie’s is doing big things. Beaming with pride, the rapper took to his timeline sharing a video of his studio session with multi-award-winning Canadian singer and songwriter Nelly Furtado. “A Sydenham {Johannesburg suburb} heights boy and Nelly Furtado,” he captioned the post.

R&B singer and Disney’s latest princess Halle Bailey is the latest celebrity to star in a campaign with Gucci. The young songstress announced her partnership with the luxury Italian brand online as she kept it simple and comfy while posing with one of their classic bags. “I’m so excited to be a Gucci girl,” Bailey captioned her Instagram post. “[I’m] debuting a new campaign for the iconic Gucci Horsebit 1955 handbag.”

The campaign also features singer Hanni, and actress Julia Garner. Captured by Mert&Marcus, the campaign celebrates three exceptional women creating meaningful spaces within their crafts. Gucci first debuted the Horsebit 1955 two years after the original iconic double-ring and bar debuted in the House’s collections 70 years ago. It became an instant iconic emblem for the brand and a link to the equestrian world that has always informed Gucci’s design ethos.

5. Cristiano Ronaldo becomes the most-capped men’s player in history

Cristiano Ronaldo is the most-capped men’s player in history after being included in the XI for Portugal’s Euro 2024 qualifier with Liechtenstein. When he takes the field for Portugal’s clash with Liechtenstein, Ronaldo will officially register his 197th international cap, overtaking Kuwait forward Bader Al-Mutawa.

The Portuguese talisman last appeared for his country coming from the bench against Morocco in the 2022 World Cup quarter-finals. Despite the fact the 38-year-old is now playing in the Saudi Pro League at club level, he has been called up by new Portugal boss Roberto Martinez for the start of their latest European Championship qualifying campaign. The former Manchester United star has been in impressive form for Al Nassr, scoring nine goals in 10 appearances, and he plans to continue playing for his national team as long as possible – with the striker set to make more history this week.
