TV presenter Ayanda Thabethe is having a baby boy, and she is on cloud nine after she threw a gender reveal soirée. Taking to Instagram, the model and TV presenter shared her video to give her fans a glimpse into her pregnancy journey. She was surrounded by her close friends and family on her special day. Revealing the gender of her baby, Ayanda popped a balloon and the blue confetti flying about suggested the star is having a boy.

A few days ago, she announced her pregnancy in a beautifully captured video. The heartfelt caption read: “More than my heart can hold. Greater than I deserve. Beyond everything I could ask for. An answer to a secret and nervous prayer. Finally, my forever has come.”

2. Lionel Richie and Dionne Warwick nominated for Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

Dionne Warwick, Tribe Called Quest and Lionel Richie are among the 17 musical acts who have been nominated as the 2022 class of inductees for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Other nominees include Eminem, Dolly Parton, Carly Simon, Eurythmics, Kate Bush, Devo, Judas Priest, MC5, New York Dolls, Rage Against the Machine, Beck, Duran Duran, Pat Benatar, and the legendary afrobeat artist Fela Kuti, who passed away in 1997. Warwick, who released her first album in 1963, and Kuti were nominated last year but ultimately didn’t make the cut.

Lionel Richie, Tribe Called Quest, and Eminem are first-time nominees but Eminem is the only first-time eligible nominee. Infinite, the rapper’s debut album, was released in 1996. However, Eminem received his fame from his acclaimed 1999 album, The Slim Shady LP.

3. Moderna begins HIV vaccine’s trial

Moderna has started to trial its Human Immuno Deficiency Virus (HIV) vaccines in human beings using its mRNA technology according to an announcement made by the company. The trial, which is partly sponsored by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, is intended to be administered as part of a clinical trial called IAVI G002. As announced, the trial will not only test the immune response to the vaccine but also the efficacy of booster versions.

The president and CEO of IAVI in his statement about the vaccine trial said, “We are tremendously excited to be advancing this new direction in HIV vaccine design with Moderna’s mRNA platform. The search for an HIV vaccine has been long and challenging, and having new tools in terms of immunogens and platforms could be the key to making rapid progress toward an urgently needed, effective HIV vaccine.”

4. Mauritius battered by intense tropical cyclone

Mauritius has issued a class four warning — the highest weather alert — because a cyclone is approaching the Indian Ocean island. Batsirai has also been upgraded to an intense tropical cyclone to reflect its strength. The weather is expected to deteriorate further with rainfall over the whole island. The cyclone should pass at its closest point at 16:00 local time (GMT 12:00) at around 120km (75 miles) from Grand Bay, a tourist resort in the north. Waves of up to 10m (32ft) are expected along the coastal roads in the south-west. The strongest gust recorded so far has been 151km/h at Champs de Mars in the capital, Port Louis.

Many people have evacuated their homes looking for refuge in government centers, including some children. Police armored vehicles are being used to assist patients who need to get to hospital. Some roads are partially flooded with a lot of debris on them, including rocks, sand and trees. The last time Mauritius experienced these conditions was back in 2007 when tropical cyclone Gamede battered the island with gusts of 158km/h.

5. Mason Greenwood: Man Utd footballer released on bail

Manchester United footballer Mason Greenwood has been released on bail after being arrested on suspicion of raping a woman. The 20-year-old was also arrested on suspicion of assault on Sunday following allegations on social media. He was then further arrested on suspicion of sexual assault and making threats to kill on Tuesday.

Manchester United previously said the forward would not return to training or matches until further notice. Greater Manchester Police said Greenwood was arrested after the force “became aware of online social media images and videos posted by a woman reporting incidents of physical violence.” It said magistrates had granted a second extension to keep him in custody until Wednesday but he had now been bailed pending further investigations.
