Jay-Z will headline the Super Bowl 2027 Halftime Show, marking the first time the rapper and entrepreneur will perform as the main attraction at the NFL’s championship game after years of helping select its musical acts. The NFL, Roc Nation, and Apple Music announced the news on October 26 during Monday Night Football, confirming that the 25-time Grammy winner will take the stage at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California, on February 14, 2027.
The announcement puts an end to weeks of speculation surrounding the rapper’s potential appearance at Super Bowl LXI. Jay-Z, whose company Roc Nation has partnered with the NFL on halftime entertainment since 2019, will now move from executive producer to headliner. The announcement did not confirm any additional performers, leaving open the possibility of surprise guests during the Valentine’s Day show.
Jay-Z Announces Super Bowl LXI Halftime Performance
The NFL revealed the news during Monday night’s game between the Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles, following a teaser that featured Jay-Z seated in stadium stands. Soundtracked by “Public Service Announcement (Interlude)” from his 2003 album “The Black Album,“ the black-and-white video opened with the rapper’s familiar introduction: “Allow me to reintroduce myself, my name HOV.”
The teaser was accompanied by the caption “GOAT’s out of the bag,” referencing the rumors that had circulated ahead of the official announcement. Reports had suggested that Jay-Z would announce his participation during his recent performances at SoFi Stadium, but the concerts concluded without confirmation.
In a statement released alongside the announcement, Jay-Z reflected on the significance of the opportunity.
“From Reasonable Doubt to standing on the Super Bowl Halftime stage, this has been a journey,” he said. “Thirty years of music, work and culture on the world’s biggest stage. This run continues to be a dream come true.”
NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell also welcomed the decision, revealing that he had hoped Jay-Z would eventually perform when the league first partnered with Roc Nation.

“When we first reached an agreement with Roc Nation to produce the show, I had just one request: that JAY-Z take the stage himself one day, whenever the moment felt right to him.”

“When we first reached an agreement with Roc Nation to produce the show, I had just one request: that Jay-Z take the stage himself one day, whenever the moment felt right to him,” Goodell said in the announcement.
The commissioner added that he was excited for audiences to experience the rapper’s artistry, creativity, and cultural influence at the Super Bowl.
Roc Nation signed its initial partnership with the NFL in 2019, taking on responsibilities related to live music entertainment and the league’s Inspire Change social justice initiative. The company has since played a leading role in selecting and producing the halftime performances. The partnership was extended in 2024 for another five years.
Jay-Z previously explained that he had been reluctant to headline the event too early. Speaking to Entertainment Tonight in 2024, he said he had considered performing but felt the timing was not right.
“I thought it would be selfish to pick myself too early. Maybe one year. Maybe,” he said.
That year has now arrived, with the Super Bowl 2027 Halftime Show giving the rapper an opportunity to headline the production he has helped shape for years.
Will Beyoncé Join Jay-Z at Super Bowl LXI?
Beyoncé is among the potential guest performers fans are discussing following the announcement, particularly because the game falls on Valentine’s Day. However, neither the NFL nor Roc Nation has confirmed that the singer will appear alongside her husband.
The couple have shared the stage on numerous occasions, including their “On the Run” tours in 2014 and 2018. Beyoncé also made a surprise appearance during Jay-Z’s recent performances celebrating the anniversaries of his albums “Reasonable Doubt” and “The Blueprint.“
Beyoncé previously headlined the Super Bowl halftime show in 2013, reuniting Destiny’s Child during her performance. She also appeared alongside Bruno Mars during Coldplay’s headlining set at Super Bowl 50 in 2016.
Other guest performers have yet to be announced. Given Jay-Z’s extensive catalog and connections across hip-hop and pop, the final lineup could include collaborators from different stages of his career. For now, the rapper remains the only officially confirmed performer.

Jay-Z will follow Bad Bunny, who headlined the 2026 Super Bowl halftime show with a performance celebrating Puerto Rican culture and Latin music. The set also featured appearances by Lady Gaga and Ricky Martin.
Previous headliners under Roc Nation’s involvement have included The Weeknd, Rihanna, Usher, Kendrick Lamar, and the all-star hip-hop lineup featuring Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Mary J. Blige, Kendrick Lamar, and 50 Cent in 2022.
The production has earned Jay-Z multiple Primetime Emmy nominations, including wins connected to the 2022 hip-hop performance and Bad Bunny’s 2026 show.
Super Bowl LXI is scheduled for February 14, 2027, at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California. The game is set to air on ESPN, ABC, and Disney+. With Jay-Z confirmed as the headliner, attention will now turn to the setlist, production plans, and whether the rapper will bring any special guests to one of music’s biggest stages.
