Dior hosted a cocktail party on Tuesday, December 4 for the global launch of Dior Lady Art #3 at its Miami Design District boutique. Marking the third edition of such a collaboration, the brand’s creative director, Maria Grazia Chiuri asked a group of artists to reimagine the iconic Lady Dior bag, but this time around, all of the collaborators are women.
The 11 international artists who were asked to reinterpret the architectural accessory, which debuted in 1995 are Polly Apfelbaum, Isabelle Cornaro, Morgane Tschiember, Li Shurui, Lee Bul, Burçak Bingöl, Mickalene Thomas, Janaina Tschäpe, Olga de Amaral, Pae White and Haruka Kojin. These ladies created wearable art and we are loving every piece.
This edition of the legendary Lady Dior bag which will be produced in limited quantities was redesigned using dozens of different materials like metal, plastic, gold chains, cotton, fur, embroidery, ropes and so much more.
With prices starting at about $5000, the bags will be available exclusively at Dior’s Miami Design District boutique at 162 NE 39th St. through the end of this year, before launching at select locations worldwide in January 2019.
