Dior and A24 have announced a two-year creative partnership spanning film, theater and live events, with the collaboration introduced through a playful campaign video starring Sabrina Carpenter, Josh O’Connor and Drew Starkey as actors auditioning to play Dior creative director Jonathan Anderson. The partnership will also make New York’s historic Cherry Lane Theatre its first major home, bringing fashion and performance together through a series of creative projects.

The announcement arrives as Dior continues to expand its relationship with the wider creative world under Anderson, who became the house’s creative director last year. For A24, the partnership extends the company’s involvement with Cherry Lane Theatre while opening another avenue for its work across film, live performance and emerging talent. Together, Dior and A24 are positioning the partnership around artists and storytelling rather than conventional fashion product placement.

Sabrina Carpenter Plays Jonathan Anderson

The partnership was announced with a campaign film directed by Aidan Zamiri, known for his work on “The Moment.” In the video, Carpenter, O’Connor, Starkey, Camille Cottin and Sophie Wilde all attempt to embody Anderson as they prepare for an imagined audition to play the designer.

Carpenter takes a particularly playful approach to the role, studying Anderson’s mannerisms and joking about his habit of tightening his jaw. O’Connor, meanwhile, asks questions about the designer’s “soul” as he tries to understand how to approach the character. Anderson himself also appears in the film, playing himself as the actors attempt to capture his personality.

The unusual campaign sets the tone for the broader collaboration, which Dior and A24 describe as a creative partnership bringing together film, fashion and theater.

Cherry Lane Theatre Opens the Collaboration

The first major project will take place at Cherry Lane Theatre in New York, where the partnership will officially launch with a one-night-only performance of “Both Ends.” The event coincides with the first anniversary of the theater’s reopening after A24 and Taurus Investment Holdings acquired the historic venue in 2023.

Written by Justin Vivian Bond and produced and directed by Zack Winokur, “Both Ends” is inspired by Edna St. Vincent Millay, the poet and playwright who was one of Cherry Lane Theatre’s co-founders. Anderson has designed the costumes for the production, extending his role at Dior into a live theatrical setting.

Justin Vivian Bond will wear an archival garment by Paul Poiret during the performance. The choice has an additional connection to Anderson’s work, as Poiret’s designs inspired elements of Dior’s Fall/Winter 2026 collection.

Beyond the opening performance, Dior and A24 will work together on a wider slate of film and live programming. The companies plan to support both established and emerging creative talent while also creating opportunities for students to engage with film and theater.

The collaboration reflects a growing relationship between fashion and entertainment, but its focus appears broader than putting luxury clothing into movies or dressing celebrities for major events. Anderson has emphasized the creative possibilities that can emerge when different artistic worlds are placed alongside one another.

“There’s something thrilling about putting two creatively driven worlds side by side, you start to see what they pull out of each other that neither could’ve found alone,” Anderson said in a statement. “That’s where the interesting stuff happens.”

The Dior and A24 partnership also builds on Anderson’s existing work in cinema. The designer has maintained a longstanding creative relationship with filmmaker Luca Guadagnino, including his costume design work on the director’s 2024 film “Queer.”

Anderson also recently designed costumes for Guadagnino’s “Artificial,” an upcoming biopic about OpenAI CEO Sam Altman starring Andrew Garfield. The film is scheduled for a U.S. theatrical release in December, adding another major film project to Anderson’s growing body of work outside traditional fashion.

Dior and A24 Look Beyond the Campaign

The campaign starring Carpenter may have provided the partnership with its most immediately recognizable introduction, but the collaboration is designed to continue well beyond the announcement film. With Cherry Lane Theatre as its first creative base, Dior and A24 will develop projects across film, theater and live events over the next two years.

For Dior, the partnership gives Anderson another platform to explore the relationship between fashion and storytelling. For A24, it brings a major luxury house into the creative ecosystem surrounding its theater and entertainment projects. The result is a collaboration that places artists, performance and cultural exchange at the center, with the first chapter beginning at Cherry Lane Theatre.
