The new air unit works alongside a Cushlon 3.0 foam midsole, delivering a softer ride, greater energy return, and improved durability. While the original Lunarlon cushioning was praised at launch, many players found that it compressed quickly during extended use. Cushlon 3.0 addresses that issue by maintaining its responsiveness over longer periods of play.
The updated setup also provides a lower, more responsive court feel. With full-length cushioning replacing separate heel and forefoot units, transitions feel smoother and energy transfer becomes more consistent during explosive movements.
Upper Material Optimization and Lockdown
Nike has also refined the upper to improve both comfort and support. A redesigned engineered mesh offers a softer feel straight out of the box while increasing airflow to help keep feet cool during high-intensity games. Additional original colorways will follow throughout the year. The blue “5 AM Flight” edition returns in October, while the purple-accented “Blackout” colorway is scheduled for release in January 2027. The engineered-mesh versions will retail for $200.
