On July 20, Barack Obama released his annual summer playlist for 2023, and Nigerian Grammy-winning superstar Burna Boy made the cut with his latest record “Sittin’ On Top Of The World.” Burna Boy isn’t the only Nigerian on the list as Ayra Starr’s 2023 release “Sability” also made the prestigious selection. They join other international superstars such as Jorja Smith, SZA, J Hus, Drake, Nas, and Rosalia on the playlist that comprises both classic and new records.

Burna Boy has previously featured on Obama’s annual summer playlist with “Last Last” making the cut in 2022. Ayra Starr’s “Rush” also made Obama’s 2022 end-of-the-year playlist.

2. A$AP Rocky stars in new Beats By Dre commercial

Earlier on Thursday, July 20, A$AP Rocky dropped off a new single titled “RIOT (Rowdy Pipe’n),” which he produced alongside Pharrell and marks the latest step toward the Harlem rapper’s long-awaited fourth LP, “Don’t Be Dumb.” Not long after the hard-hitting release, he appeared in a new advertisement for Beats By Dre’s Beats Studio Pro headphones.

Following an off-camera request from his Barbadian significant other, Rocky embarks on an action-packed mission to retrieve diapers for his son, RZA — all as “RIOT” plays in the background. The clip humorously ends with Rihanna informing the new dad that he purchased the incorrect size.

Lionel Richie has had some of the most successful and memorable songs of all time, extending that success into the real estate space. Now, the hitmaker and 4-time Grammy winner is out to conquer the fragrance industry. His first fragrance, Hello, was released in 2019 and was inspired by one of his biggest hit songs. According to reports, the scent earned a Fragrance Foundation nomination for the Fragrance of the Year: Popular category.

It turns out the first fragrance prompted Richie to release another scent, Easy Like Sunday Morning, inspired by the title of the hit from a Commodores album of the late 70s. Richie was part of that group until 1982 when he became a solo artist. Richie said that it took time to find the smells that captured his vision. It’s an all-gender scent that features strawberry, grapefruit, and almond blossom notes, and will be sold on HSN.

5. Erik Ten Hag announces the next captain of Manchester United

The manager of Manchester United, Erik Ten Hag has reportedly picked a new captain for the club ahead of the 2023/24 season. Manchester United confirmed that Bruno Fernandes will lead the team on the pitch whenever he is available for selection on its official website on Thursday, July 20. The Red Devils had initially released a statement confirming that the Englishman will not lead the players from the dugout going forward.

Harry Maguire expressed his displeasure as it concerns the decision of Erik Ten Hag but has promised to give his best to the team whenever he gets the privilege to wear the jersey in a football game. The Portuguese midfielder has already worn the armband for United on several occasions last season when Maguire was not on the field of play. Erik Ten Hag has confirmed that he will now lead the team permanently.
