Investment expert, Sonnie Ayere of Dunn Loren Merrifield met his bride Uche Ajene, through what we call a chance encounter. The story has it that they met when Sonnie tried to intercede in a case of theft with Uche as the victim and the rest as we now know is history. In Uche’s words, she got back more than her stolen jewellery.
She put it this way:
“…the heavens blessed me with a piece of jewelry beyond my imagination.”
On Saturday, April 27, the two got married in the presence of family and friends in a garden/outdoor wedding at the Landmark Event Centre in Lagos, Nigeria. The venue was beautifully decorated and every arrangement from the flowers to the seats and even the live music sang by the choir was perfect – see video further down.
Asides their perfect wedding ceremony, what struck us the most was how uniquely stylish their pre-wedding and wedding looks were. Their pre-wedding shoot saw the couple in three outfits each.
In one of the looks, Uche, who is a management consultant and corporate marketing executive, posed in a beige dress with a low V-neckline and frills running down the straps. She complemented the dress with a turban of the same colour and some gold accessories, forgoing a necklace. The groom wore a Prussian blue military style coat with bishop collar and a pair of beige pants and a matching pocket square. He also accessorized with gold, rocking a chain lapel brooch and wristwatch to go with the gold details on the coat’s buttons.
In another look, the groom wore a black notch-lapel suit jacket over a pink button-down shirt and a pair of black pants. Accessorizing with a black leather wristwatch and a pair of black suede loafers for finishing touches, he proved how much of a classic yet contemporary man he is.
The bride wore a pair of butterscotch wide-legged jumpsuit over a black lace camisole. She completed the look with a pair of translucent strappy heels and a gold choker necklace with fringe detailing in the middle.
For the third and final pre-wedding shoot look, the bride wore a little black dress with intricate details, cutout at the back and pleated frills at the bottom. She accessorized with some silver accessories and finished the look up with a pair of silver heels. All three outfits worn by the bride were made by Nigerian designer, Matopeda.
The groom rocked a navy blue custom-made kaftan set and added details to the look with silver accessories in the form of cufflinks and bracelets. He complemented the ensemble with a pair of wine suede loafers. This look was a hint at what his wedding look would be.
For their wedding, both Uche and Sonnie went bold. The gorgeous bride kept all the attention in her Matopeda dress which was made with intricate beading arranged in patterns on lace. The train on the dress added even more elegance to it. Since her dress was so bejewelled, she accessorized minimally with two bracelets and a pair of crystal earrings. A crystal forehead headband ensured that she looked every bit like a fairytale princess.
The groom let go of the regular suit and tie and went for a more traditional outfit. He was royal in a custom-made coordinating 3-piece set consisting of a kaftan, a pair of matching pants and a coat, all in Oxford blue. The coat and the kaftan came with a sleek yellow embroidery which added a deserving pop of colour to the outfit. Sonnie completed his look with a pair of matching suede loafers and also a champagne gold cap made from the traditionally handwoven fabric popularly called Aso Oke.
With every look, the duo who are both taking a second chance at matrimonial love proved just how in sync they are. Uche and Sonnie’s wedding was one of high class and finesse and we are totally in love with everything surrounding the wedding. Here’s wishing them the very best!
