Grammy Award Winners Angélique Kidjo And Burna Boy Team Up For An Anthem + More New Afrobeat Songs

Artists across Africa are definitely not letting our legs and ears catch a break this month. It’s been back-to-back delivery of songs and our favorites keep changing weekly #WeAreNotComplainingThough. Grammy award winners Angélique Kidjo and Burna Boy finally teamed up for a highly requested collaboration on Do yourself.

Inclusive of this, there are other new afrobeat songs that caught our attention this month and as a result, we’ve curated this list of some favorites for your weekend groove.

#1. Angélique Kidjo ft. Burna Boy – Do yourself

Multiple Grammy award-winning singer Angelique Kidjo teams up with Nigerian Grammy winner Burna Boy for her song Do Yourself. It is track 5 off her new album Mother Nature which dropped last month. This is a dream collaboration, especially for Burna Boy who sees Kidjo as an inspiration.

#2. Olamide ft. Phyno – Somebody

Olamide, YBNL honcho, just released his new album UY Scuti and on it is a new track titled Somebody featuring Phyno. On Somebody, Olamide and Phyno delivered low tempo, soft and silky lines — a different side to them. This collaboration comes highly requested since their last joint album, 2 Kings.

#3. Patoranking – Celebrate me

Nigerian reggae-dancehall singer and songwriter and VP Records Boss Patoranking has released an amazing new song that’s already on the lips of people titled Celebrate me. In this melodious time, Patoranking sings about being celebrated while he’s still alive.

#4. Savage ft. Buju – Confident

Nigerian Afrobeats artist Savage enlists the help of Nigeria’s rave of the moment, Buju on this new song titled Confident. Savage uses this song to make an impact in the industry. Confident, is a groovy record, with insightful lyrics, and vocals which definitely do boost one’s confidence.

#5. PsychoYP – Euphoria

Nigeria’s prominent trap artist, PsychoYP presents his journey on Euphoria. In a groovy tale, the emerging rapper tells the world that he has paid his dues while living in a gratifying world of indulgence. The song is a mix of hip-hop and dancehall with Psycho delivering drills over the production.
