A new face enters the constantly evolving world of Valentino. This time, Emmy award-winning actress Zendaya Coleman is the face and personality undertaken by Pierpaolo Piccioli, creative director of the brand, who is committed to redesigning the brand’s codes.
A note announced this from the fashion house where it is specified that “Zendaya becomes part of the path undertaken by Pierpaolo Piccioli, who sees in the actress a natural representative of that possible and conscious romanticism that belongs to the creative director, who is redefining the codes of the brand, creating new connections between the past, the present, and an imagined future.”
Zendaya, who has previously designed collections for Tommy Hilfiger, is the second woman of color to win an Emmy for her performances in the hit HBO drama series Euphoria. The American actress and singer whose real name is Zendaya Maree Stoermer Coleman first made a name for herself on the Disney Channel as Rocky Blue in the sitcom Shake it Up.
In subsequent years, the native Californian has moved from TV to the big screen, starring in films such as SpiderMan, The Greatest Showman, A White Lie, and the upcoming thriller Finest Kind. While in her recording career, Zendaya’s self-titled debut album entered the Billboard 200 at 51; and her single Rewrite The Stars from The Greatest Showman, reached the Top 20 in the UK.
In his announcement, creative director Pierpaolo Piccioli said: “You embody and perfectly represent what Valentino is and represents today. She is a powerful and fierce young woman who uses her talent and work to express herself, her values, and even her generation.”
An excited Zendaya said: “I am honored to have been chosen as the face of Valentino. I’m so excited to begin this amazing collaboration with Pierpaolo and the entire Valentino family.”
