While there, the “On My Mama” talent decided to surprise the Atlanta legend with a custom jacket in honor of his upcoming Super Bowl LVIII halftime show. “We got one of the last living icons in the building with us right now. We just want to congratulate you, we want to celebrate you,” Monet could be heard saying in a fan-recorded video.

“You see the culture in the building. Make some noise for Usher, y’all. As a small token of my appreciation, I wanted to give you this gift.” She then handed over the jacket to the “Good Good” singer, who beamed with joy as he put the leather item on. Later in the show, Usher made sure to give flowers to Monet, who is currently enjoying one of the best years of her music career so far.

Popular Nigerian artiste, Seyi Vibez is taking the next step in his career after a successful 2023, announcing the establishment of his record label and also unveiling his first signed artiste. Seyi Vibez, known for his bold lyrics that resonate with people in different phases of life, initially teased the announcement in a post shared on his social media platform on Wednesday, November 29.

The singer finally shared the news in an Instagram post on Thursday, November 30. He welcomed a newly signed artiste, TML Vibez, to his newly formed record label, Vibez Inc. The announcement was accompanied by a melodious introductory video that has had fans on the edge of their seats and high in anticipation of what to expect from TML Vibez and Seyi Vibez before the year comes to a close.

3. South Africa: Trevor Noah makes history by winning Erasmus Prize worth €150,000

Trevor Noah made history as the first comedian in nearly 60 years to win the prestigious Erasmus Prize. The last and first comic to win the prize was Charlie Chaplin, who received the honor in 1965. Noah is also the first South African to bag the recognition. The Erasmus Prize is awarded annually to a person or institution that has made an exceptional contribution to the humanities, the social sciences, or the arts in Europe and beyond. The award consists of a cash prize of €150,000 (R3m). The prize is awarded by the board of the Praemium Erasmianum Foundation.

Taking to his social media timelines, Trevor shared images from the award ceremony and expressed his gratitude. “Thank you for the warm welcome Netherlands! It was truly an honor to be awarded the 2023 Erasmus Prize! Special thanks to the Praemium Erasmianum Foundation, His Majesty the King Willem-Alexander, and The Royal family, Humberto Tan, for the delightful conversation and lastly, everyone that attended last night in Amsterdam!” he wrote.

4. Rema leads global Shazam charts in 2023 with ‘Calm Down’

Nigerian sensation, Rema has once again seized the spotlight by achieving a groundbreaking feat in 2023. Rema’s chart-topping hit, “Calm Down,” has etched its name in history, breaking records as the most Shazamed song globally this year. Representing Afrobeats on the international stage, the 23-year-old music prodigy outshone formidable competitors, including renowned artists like Miley Cyrus and Lady Gaga, to claim the coveted position.

“Calm Down” soared above the ranks, leaving Miley Cyrus’ “Flowers” trailing in second place and Lady Gaga’s “Bloody Mary” securing the third spot. Notably, the remix of “Calm Down” featuring Selena Gomez also made its mark, claiming the 94th spot on the prestigious list. Ayra Starr’s sensational hit, “Rush,” took an impressive ninth place, while Omah Lay’s “Soso” secured the 95th spot. 5. Jude Bellingham set scoring record as Real Madrid beat Napoli

Jude Bellingham became the first player to score in each of his first four Champions League appearances for Real Madrid as they saw off the spirited Napoli. The England midfielder headed in David Alaba’s cross in the 22nd minute to put the 14-time winners 2-1 ahead. It was the 20-year-old’s 15th goal in his 16th appearance for Los Blancos. He also assisted the fourth goal for Madrid in added time as Real continued their perfect record in this season’s Champions League with a 4-2 win.
