T

here are times when it seems a fashion drought is on the horizon, and unique looks become scarce. But during fashion month, the reverse is the case. Splufik ensembles tread without caution, unsettling norms. Last week, Paris took over the Fashion Week baton, redefining the next season’s street style with elevated and creative trends. As numerous shows serenaded the Paris Fashion Week runways, the BOF 500 gala also packed a full punch with celebrities embodying confidence and waltzing with flamboyance.

The Looks

Kelly Rowland has been in touch with her inner hot girl; her serial slay this fashion season is proof. The ever-youthful singer kept the city of Paris on its toes with suave renderings displayed both off and on the carpet. At the Lancome x Louvre dinner in the City of Lights, Rowland stepped out in an adorable black velvet dress by Nicolas Jebran. The ruchings around the hip area, gold-detailed bodice, and overflowing train breathed life into this not-so-little black number.

Swirl prints in balanced hues were a thing on the Paris streets and supermodel Naomi Campbell defined this trend in a multicolored Pucci dress with a black fringe-like cape. While this has been a busy season for the Black queen (she’s been spotted on many runways doing what she knows best and gracing the front rows alike), Campbell hasn’t dropped the fashion ball even for a second. Undoubtedly, her tenacity in the style department and incessant graceful demeanor are worth a masterclass.

While Paris bubbled, the city of Midrand in South Africa didn’t let down her hair either. Beauty queen Zozibini Tunzi was at the SAFTAs spreading the fashion gospel with her looks taking the mic. One of the outfits she donned was an all-over-floral white dress by Nao Serati that spoke elegance fluently. Her slick-back hair, white manicure, and understated jewelry allowed the dress to shine without restraint.
