Last Week, Interesting Takes Was The Motto As Style Stars Mirrored Individualism

With Halloween parties, sport shows, Lagos Fashion Week as well as other events that took place globally last week, stylish Black men brought out their style weapons to look sophisticated enough and individualistic. As they paraded in ensembles that commanded our attention, what stood out the most was the unapologetic display of styles that reflected the personality of the wearer. From season-appropriate layerings to refreshing bursts of colors, these Rave-worthy men played the fashion game right while staying true to who they are.

The looks

Nigerian creative heavyweights led the outré embellishment brigade, embracing the unusual yet typical out-of-the-box style we’ve well attached to the Nigerian fashion scene, and mixed-era aesthetic. Actor and media guru, Adenola “Denola Grey” Adepetun showed precisely how it’s done in an off-white deconstructed blazer, a unique pair of pants that complement the blazer — both from Nigerian fashion brand, Emmy Kasbit — and styled with a classic white shirt. Of course, white boots fit the theme perfectly and Grey opted for a pair with gold chain detailing by Nigerian shoe brand, King Davids, which complement his gold necklace and statement glasses.

Undoubtedly, season-appropriate hues are always a win. Whether it’s pastels for spring or oranges for Fall, opting for the right colors is hardly a miss. Expectedly, for his Houston Texans vs. Arizona Cardinals game-day fit, Tyrod Taylor chose to incorporate Fall/Halloween colors — orange and green — into his look. So, it was fitting that he went with an orange Marni cardigan jacket which he wore over a white John Elliot t-shirt and a pair of leather, watermelon print Doublet pants. He finished off the ensemble with a pair of Nike dunk low SE multi-camo sneakers and a Rimowa X Fendi suitcase.

Happenings last week created an avenue for the exhibition of bold looks from the most stylish Black men. The style stars utilized forward-thinking labels and pieces to create luxurious style moments with edge.
