On Thursday, February 6, Hollywood’s finest celebrities stepped out for the 13th Annual ESSENCE Black Women in Hollywood Luncheon, which was held at Beverly Wilshire in Beverly Hills. This yearly event is a celebration of the Black women who are trendsetters in all things TV and film.
This year’s event celebrates “women owning, expanding and transforming the art of storytelling” as part of the Essence brand’s 50th anniversary. For the 2020 Essence Black Women in Hollywood awards, the honorees included Niecy Nash (When They See Us, Claws); Grammy-winning music video director Melina Matsoukas (Queen & Slim, Beyoncé’s “Formation” music video); Lashana Lynch (Captain Marvel, upcoming James Bond film No Time to Die); and the Pose cast (Mj Rodriguez, Indya Moore, Dominique Jackson, Angelica Ross and Hailie Sahar) alongside co-executive producer/director/writer Janet Mock.
