After New York, London, and Milan, the month-long transatlantic fashion tour’s final leg, Paris Fashion Week, came to an end on Tuesday. As was to be expected, Paris had more than a lot to offer and fashion faithfuls were left in awe of the spring/summer 2023 shows’ recognizable seductive style and seamless grace.
Never one to pass up a chance at going viral, Coperni’s final performance during its spring/summer 2023 show was what really established it as a brand for the future. Before scientists from a London-based business called Fabrican began spraying her with what at first appeared to be off-white spider webs, which rapidly dried to form a covering of cloth, Bella Hadid walked the catwalk in nothing more than a nude thong. The company, recognized for its blend of science, inventiveness, and fashion, created history with the technological display when Hadid went on to complete one more lap of the catwalk wearing the outfit that had only been a spray in a bottle minutes earlier.

Kanye West made headlines in Paris with his modeling debut as he opened Demna Gvasalia’s Balenciaga show. Balenciaga’s spring/summer 2023 collection, which was presented against what appeared to be a mudslide, was meant to be a continuation of its offering from the previous season, which saw models trudging down a runway in a blizzard. At Paris Fashion Week SS23, the Japanese brand Issey Miyake honored its late founder with the style of choreographed dance performance that he popularized. The presentation showcased the label’s signature design and largely featured austere monochromatic garments, with a black and white portrait of Miyake, who passed away last month at the age of 84, hanging on the walls.

Former Spice Girl Victoria Beckham debuted at Paris Fashion Week this week and showed her conservative yet stylish workplace and evening dress collection in an effort to increase the commercial success of her brand. With the exception of sporadic appearances in London, she showed her collections for the most part in New York, where she held her first fashion show roughly 14 years ago.
Ibrahim Kamara, the image and art director at Off-White, took the original brief envisioned by the brand’s late founder, Virgil Abloh and breathed a creative collection while staying loyal to Abloh’s distinctive playfulness and vision. The spring/summer collection included intricate needlework, skeleton prints, cutouts, startling knitwear, and headpieces.
With Paris Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2023 capping off a full season in style, Fashion Week has undeniably returned to its previous splendor. The French city hosted renowned fashion brands like Chanel, Balmain, and Louis Vuitton, which brought a lot of jaw-dropping moments, breathtaking runway presentations, and celebrity appearances.
