MFW: Jeremy Scott’s SS19 Collection For Moschino Was As Theatrical As It Was Innovative

There’s a ruse about speed this season and it’s an inside joke by Jeremy Scott who has been referred to as fashion’s own “jester.” The designer teased backstage before his SS19 show in Milan:

“The fashion system has sped up so much that, this time, I didn’t have time to finish my work, all I have to show is my sketches.”

Of course he was joking because those scratchy scribble drawings he learnt at fashion school came to live as the show kicked off. Although he joked about the way fashion was paced these days and how time just flies by, his collection was in no way incomplete; in fact, it was mega and literally had something for everyone.

The show was closed by Jeremy‘s muse, Gigi Hadid, who walked the runway as a bride with her train carried by butterflies, not literal, but fake ones sprawled across a canopy that was carried by men in gimp suits, puppeteers if you will.

It was obvious that the designer put a lot of thought and effort into this collection, it had to make a statement after all. There were eighties prim suit silhouettes that came to life, looks with Parisian silhouettes, and chic pieces that screamed of the Moschino designs of yesteryear. There was an overload of pretty, fun dresses that were either almost theatrical or laced with haute couture codes. Like a great performer, the show kept its audience interested from beginning till the ground breaking end.

From classic couture to muslin bodysuits, here’s a look at some of the crowned pieces that helped Jeremy Scott of Moschino conquer fashion once more…
