Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Make First Joint U.K. Appearance Since Returning to Britain

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry made their first joint public appearance in the United Kingdom since reportedly returning to the country in August, visiting Nottingham on October 15, 2026. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were greeted by cheering supporters as they arrived in the city, where Meghan offered a five-word response to their return: “It’s great to be back.”

The visit marked a significant moment for the couple, who chose a city with personal ties to their early relationship for their first joint engagement since their reported return. Their itinerary included visits to two community organizations, where they met young people, spoke with local residents, and learned about initiatives addressing youth development and food poverty.

Meghan and Harry Visit Nottingham’s Community Recording Studio

The couple’s first stop was the Community Recording Studio (CRS), a charity established in 1991 that provides young people with access to music, recording facilities, sports, mentoring, and creative activities.

According to reports, between 150 and 200 people gathered outside the venue to welcome the couple, with supporters carrying flowers and balloons. More than 60 members of the international media were also present to cover the visit.

Meghan and Harry spent approximately 20 minutes greeting members of the public before entering the building. The couple shook hands, posed for photographs, spoke with schoolchildren, and accepted gifts from supporters.

During the walkabout, Meghan told one well-wisher, “It’s great to be back,” according to reports. The Duchess also responded warmly when a woman showed her a photograph of the couple from their previous visit to Nottingham, saying, “That’s so special.”

One supporter called out, “I love you, Duchess Meghan,” as the couple continued meeting members of the crowd.

Ria Miller, who spoke with Meghan during the appearance, told the press that the Duchess appeared emotional after receiving a bouquet of flowers. Miller said she wanted the couple to see that they had support from people who appreciated them beyond the criticism they encounter online.

Other residents also welcomed the visit. Charlotte O’Neill said she had attended in the hope of seeing the couple, while Margaret Langdon told reporters that their decision to visit Nottingham demonstrated the importance of cities beyond London.

A Return to the Site of Their First Joint Engagement

The Nottingham appearance carried particular significance for Meghan and Harry because the city hosted Meghan’s first official royal outing alongside Harry on December 1, 2017. The engagement took place just four days after the couple announced their engagement.

Their October 15 visit brought them back to the city nearly nine years later, offering a reminder of their early public appearances together.

The Duchess also referenced that earlier visit through her outfit. Meghan wore a merlot-colored coat, a chocolate brown turtleneck, and a burgundy midi skirt from The Fold London, paired with matching Jennifer Chamandi shoes. Her accessories included stud earrings from Joseph, gold jewelry, a watch, and several rings.

Notably, Meghan wore a skirt by Joseph during the couple’s 2017 Nottingham appearance, creating a subtle connection between the two occasions. She completed her latest look with a sleek high ponytail and understated makeup.

Harry wore dark-wash jeans, a white button-down shirt, a tailored gray blazer, and black suede loafers.

Couple Visit Youth Initiative and Food Poverty Organization

Following their visit to CRS, Meghan and Harry met musician and poet Jah Digga, who attended the charity as a child. Meghan also joined young girls for a confidence-building and bracelet-making workshop.

The couple later visited Himmah Hub, a community action group that works to address food poverty. Around 50 people reportedly gathered outside the organization to welcome them as they arrived.

The two stops placed community support at the center of the couple’s Nottingham itinerary, highlighting initiatives focused on creative opportunities for young people and assistance for people facing food insecurity.

The Sussexes’ Public Return to the U.K.

The appearance comes amid renewed attention on Meghan and Harry’s relationship with the United Kingdom following their reported return in August 2026. However, their Nottingham engagements were not official royal duties.

A letter to government stakeholders, authorized by King Charles, clarified that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex remain private citizens. Despite that distinction, their schedule featured elements commonly associated with royal visits, including public walkabouts and meetings with local organizations.

For Meghan, the Nottingham visit also marked her first public appearance at events in the United Kingdom since Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral in September 2022.

The couple’s return to a city associated with their early relationship drew a warm reception from supporters and brought renewed attention to their public activities in Britain. Meghan’s five-word response, “It’s great to be back,” offered a brief acknowledgment of the moment as the couple resumed joint public appearances in the country.
