According to the letter, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle remain non-working royals and private citizens, despite their return to Britain. Their styles as His and Her Royal Highness remain in abeyance and are not to be used.
The couple also will not resume official duties on behalf of the monarch. Their charitable activities will continue to be undertaken privately, while they retain the ability to pursue their own commercial interests.
The message was deliberately circulated to officials to avoid what the Royal Household described as potential “doubt or confusion” about the couple’s position.
In practical terms, King Charles III has confirmed that the royal status agreed upon when Prince Harry and Meghan Markle left their senior positions remains in place.
Sussexes Remain Financially Independent
