The year in fashion has been giving what it’s supposed to in terms of sensational outfits, and this week was equally impressive. Across Africa, male celebrities dove headfirst into voguish style, and we were extra pleased with the results. Nigerian media personality, Taymesan, led the charge on the streets of Lagos where he thrilled in a double denim outfit from Nigerian fashion brand WILO. Never one to ignore a reason to dress up, the host of TeaWithTay delighted in the architecturally constructed outfit. He complemented it with a pair of black leather boots and accessorized with a silver Telfar bag—which played up the white details on the clothing — and a pair of black statement sunglasses. Taymesan definitely raised the bar for men everywhere.
Volume and texture emerged again this week with outerwear and uncommon fabrics making a show. South African creative, Trevor Stuurman made a statement in bold-print aesthetics. He gave a familiar look his own twist as he wore an Ankara suit over a classic white shirt with a black tie. The visual artist brought a welcome sense of fun to the look with a pair of sneakers by South African brand Hi-Tec. The only thing cooler than the photographer’s wild-print Ankara suit is the pair of sunglasses he complemented with a black leather baseball cap.
Last week, you couldn’t scroll through Instagram without seeing attention-grabbing outfits worn by male celebrities in Africa. Brash, bold, and undeniably fun outfits ruled the streets.
