As concerns grow over the spread of the coronavirus, all hands are on deck to ensure the safety of everyone around them. It is this growing concern for safety that has led LVMH to prep its perfume and cosmetics production sites to manufacture hydroalcoholic gel, also known as hand sanitizers, to help tackle the coronavirus pandemic.
The news which was announced on Sunday, March 15, informed the public that the factories that produce perfume and makeup for brands like Christian Dior, Fendi, Guerlain and Givenchy will be making hand sanitizers in large quantities starting Monday.
The best part of the news lies in the fact that the French luxury conglomerate will deliver the disinfectant free of charge to French authorities and the Assistance Publique-Hôpitaux de Paris, the largest hospital system in Europe.
According to the group in a statement under the instruction of chairman and CEO Bernard Arnault,
“through this initiative, LVMH intends to help address the risk of a lack of product in France and enable a greater number of people to continue to take the right action to protect themselves from the spread of the virus. LVMH will continue to honour this commitment for as long as necessary, in connection with the French health authorities.”
This move by LVMH comes at a time when there is a widespread shortage of hand sanitizers across the globe due to the coronavirus outbreak. However, washing your hands with soap and water is still the best way to prevent transmission of the coronavirus.
