What To Expect From Lagos Fashion Week 2021 | 27th-30th October 2021

he Lagos Fashion Week 2021 is LIVE and we’re super excited. To keep you up-to-date on the much-anticipated fashion show, here’s a round-up on the activities to expect.

Wednesday 27th October: Fashion Business Series

This year, Fashion Business Series, a platform designed to facilitate conversations with key stakeholders in the industry will be hosted via digital panel sessions on 27th October 2021. These conversations will focus on two panels and will feature a diverse panel of experts.

The first round of panel sessions was held at 12 PM and covered Financing African Fashion. The discussion featured: Roberta Annan (Founder, African Fashion Foundation), George Gachara (Managing Partner, Heva Fund), Chid Liberty (Group CEO, Made in Africa) and Laureen Kouassi-Olsson (Founder & CEO, Birimian Holdings).

The next session scheduled for 2 PM is themed Make In Africa: Sourcing Responsibly. Speaking in this discussion were: Busayo Olupona (Founder and Creative Director of Busayo), Aissa Dione (Founder of Aissa Dione), Mariama Camara (Founder of Mariama Fashion Production), Tammy Tinker (Founder of Big Little Store), and Viola Labi (Managing Director of Woven).

Thursday 28th October: Digital Presentations and Offsite Shows

Lagos Fashion Week 2021 welcomes several digital presentations and off-site shows on the 28th of October. #LagosFW will host 10 rising talents from across Africa who will be making their debut with digital presentations. The crew of designers to feature their Spring/Summer 22 collections include Studio IMO, Maliko, Babayo, GETO, amongst others.

In addition, for the first time, Lagos Fashion Week will be hosting intimate off-site shows across Lagos where designers such as Lagos Space Programme, Banke Kuku and Orange Culture will be showcasing their Spring/Summer 22 collections, with some offering live streams as well. Certainly, one to look forward to.

Friday 29th & Saturday 30th October: Back in the Tents

Lagos Fashion Week 2021 will return to the physical tents at Federal Palace Hotel from 29th-30th October. This year’s runway will feature over 30 designers from across the continent.

Green Access:

Green access finalists (Desirée Iyama, Cute-Saint, FIA, LOHIJE, Y’wandeLag, and KADIJU) will also take to the runway after two months of intensive sessions with sustainability experts from Nigeria (Nkwo, Fela Akinse – Salutbata, Faith Oluwajimi – Bloke) and international partners Fashion Revolution (Orsola De castro & Tamsin Blanchard) and Ellen McArthur Foundation.

Lagos Fashion Week Covid Policy:

Lagos Fashion Week 2021 runs between October 27th-30th but with certain Covid restrictions. To ensure the safety of all guests, adherence to the following protocols is prioritized:

  • Strict covid regulations and enforcing a masking policy.
  • There will also be testing on-site for access to restricted production areas.
  • All guests are encouraged to test and ensure they are covid negative before visiting the tents
