Here Are A Few Of Our Fave Looks From Chimamanda Adichie’s “Wear Nigerian” Project
A passionate writer, self proclaimed chef and lover of music…
Best selling author Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie launched a “Wear Nigerian” project in 2017 with the aim of projecting the best out of Nigeria when it comes to fashion. Fashion has always been an important part of the authors life; she had once spoke about how she almost lost herself to the “norm” of what was expected from a literal student – white tee shirt, washed jeans, rough bun and flip flops. This, of course, wasn’t her style but she almost conformed. Thankfully, she soon discovered that she didn’t need to be who she wasn’t and since then she has always been an advocate of maintaining your fashion prowess.
According to Chimamanda Adichie, the “Wear Nigerian” project aims to showcase Nigerian fashion in a light that would tell the world that we don’t only have a museum of “traditional African” clothes but there in fact is also a huge diverse and vibrant fashion industry. The project has gained so much momentum since its inception with the author sharing her style story tittled “My Fashion Nationalism” with the financial Times.
