Last Week’s Best-Dressed Men Were Far Sleeker Than The Average

he intricacies of executing a good fashion assignment often lie in the simplicity of mastering one’s style. While taking risks is essential in fashion, understanding what works ensures more reliable success. Last week, the dandy boys stuck to the basics, but not without infusing unique details for extra flair. The red carpet events, game appearances, and stage performances mandated these fashionable Black men to stand on business adamantly. With all sides tucked in and not a slacking thread in sight, these celebrities attended the 2024 Oscars and other events with the confidence of a fortified army.

The Looks

Throughout the award season, Colman Domingo has consistently elevated men’s fashion with his unique style. His portrayal of civil rights activist Bayard Rustin in the movie “Rustin” has thrust him into the spotlight. Despite accumulating nominations and recognition, the star ensures that style remains a focal point. The Vanity Fair Oscar party was no exception for this style icon, who refused to conform on the carpet in a dapper Balmain ensemble.
While John Cena opted for an Oscars appearance without pants, John Legend compensated with a polished Tom Ford suit featuring flared pants. It was a classic black-tie look, except for the breezy pants that seemed to time-travel back to ’90s fashion, only to return with a contemporary twist. In essence, old trends are making a comeback, and John Legend appears to endorse this revival.

Meanwhile, the State Farm Arena pulsed with tunes and high-energy vibrations as Afrobeats star Burna Boy and Toni Braxton took the stage. Burna nodded approvingly to oversized fashion with his star-studded boots, paired with loose-fitting jeans and a top. Sturdier meant sleeker, perhaps the memo for this ensemble. If so, he executed it with precision.
