ife, without a reason to dress up and show up, would be plain ol’ boring. Thankfully, we don’t get to find out what it would feel like in that alternate universe. Last week, events like the Dolce and Gabbana Alta Moda and Sartoria shows had celebrities, stylists, DJs, and fashion icons constantly stepping on necks as they made tasteful high-end couture their everyday wear. Trust us to always look out for our favorite Black celebs and style influencers who, by all means, participated in the festivities clad in fanciful proportions that gave luxury a hot new meaning.

The looks

Actress Lupita Nyongo must have loved it in Italy, but who wouldn’t love a Dolce and Gabbana couture shopping week where you dine with the crème de la crème, slip into adorable pieces, and look like art? No one alive! The star wore a custom Dolce & Gabbana mini dress with embroidered floral patches, a hand-painted Carretto headband, and Swarovski gems as she attended the DG Alta Sartoria Men’s Show in Marzamemi, Sicily. A real-life melanin Barbie.

Star girl Ciara and her family paraded the Italian streets in Dolce & Gabbana outfits, and none missed a beat. While Ciara embodied goddess status in a custom high slit frock with Monreale mosaic-inspired embroidery to the Alta Sartoria Men’s Show, her husband Russell Wilson wore a Sicilia-fit black tuxedo in silk cloth with satin peak lapels and details in grosgrain. The children also stood out in custom D&G looks. A whole DG tribe.

International model Didi Stone sure knows how to pull off a strong look, and the star in a Vivienne Westwood classic white shirt paired with a high-waist monochrome pencil skirt is all the full proof (if you needed any). Stunning!

Check out the most fashionable moments seen on black celebs and style influencers last week…
