While 2020 was all about the no makeup makeup trend, 2021 is gearing up to be the year of subtle glam domination. Subtle, effortless and breezy are some of the words that adequately describes this week’s best beauty looks. All across social media and TV, black women unapologetically put their best face forward with makeup and hairstyles that spoke beauty without even trying.
Serving a variety of classic and innovative looks, there’s no denying that the most influential black and mixed-race celebrities and influencers continue to inspire the global Pan-African community on a daily basis. Black beauty 2020.
The nude makeup look has been a trend for several seasons and last week, Black celebrities and influencers incorporated this into their beauty looks. Yet, though nude glam stole the show, the likes of South African self-taught makeup artist and beauty content creator, Lungile Thabethe, made sure to include colors in their routine.
Lungile did so with her eye makeup for that ‘pop‘ effect. She wasn’t the only one to show off some color as American singer, Justine Skye also featured her favorite purple shade on her eyelids. For a more dramatic look, British full-time blogger and creative, Samio opted for the graphic liner in green and white.
Nigerian supermodel Mayowa Nicholas looked simple, yet beautiful in her all-back cornrows and neatly laid edges. She proved that sometimes, less can indeed be more. From East-Central Africa, Ugandan TV personality Bettinah Tianah continued in the less-is-more streak. The midnight-skinned beauty looked stunning in her signature low cut with a side part.
Down south, South African media personality, Sithembile Xola Pearl Thusi proved that true to her name, she is a pearl as she looked captivating in a sleek ponytail and highlighted her tresses in a black pear-encrusted headband.
To keep you in the know on what’s modish right now, we’ve got a lineup of dynamic beauty looks for you to revere.
