The Mowalola x Air Jordan 14 Collection Releases This Weekend

The Mowalola x Air Jordan 14 collection is finally moving from teaser to reality, with Mowalola Ogunlesi’s first long-term partnership with Jordan Brand set to launch this weekend. Anchored by two radically reworked versions of the Air Jordan 14, the collection extends far beyond footwear, bringing together oversized leather, tartan, fitted sportswear, and the Nigerian-born designer’s unmistakably provocative approach to fashion.
The timing feels especially fitting because the collaboration has never presented itself as a conventional sneaker project. From the beginning, Ogunlesi has approached the Jordan partnership as an opportunity to build an entire world rather than simply place her name on an established silhouette. That idea comes through most clearly in the new “Something’s Off” campaign, photographed by Norbert Schoerner inside an abandoned hotel.
Mowalola Brings Her World To Jordan Brand

The relationship between Mowalola and Jordan Brand has been building since June, when Ogunlesi first revealed her interpretation of the Air Jordan 14 alongside the unexpected Air Jordan 14 Mule. The standard sneaker pushes the familiar silhouette into Mowalola territory, while the mule removes the heel entirely, turning the basketball shoe into something closer to a fashion slip-on.
That willingness to disrupt something recognizable is central to the Mowalola x Air Jordan 14 collection. Rather than treating the Air Jordan 14 as a precious piece of sneaker history, Ogunlesi uses it as raw material. The result feels less like a traditional retro collaboration and more like an extension of the designer’s existing visual language.
It also reflects what Ogunlesi has said about wanting a deeper relationship with one brand. Her previous collaborations have included projects with Marc Jacobs, Ksubi, The Skateroom, and Beats by Dre, but the Jordan partnership gives her room to develop a broader creative universe.
What The “Something’s Off” Campaign Is About

The campaign makes the collaboration’s intentions clear almost immediately. Shot by photographer and filmmaker Norbert Schoerner, “Something’s Off” takes place inside an abandoned hotel where familiar settings and objects become increasingly strange. An uncanny basketball court, foggy surroundings, distorted spaces, and eerie lighting turn the campaign into something closer to a surreal fashion film than a conventional sneaker advertisement.
Alek Wek appears alongside musicians Chxrry and Tezzus and rapper Pz’, giving the imagery a cast that reflects the mix of fashion, music, nightlife, and youth culture that has long informed Mowalola’s work. The clothing becomes part of the environment rather than simply something being modeled.
That approach is particularly important to the Mowalola x Air Jordan 14 collection, because the campaign establishes that the clothes and sneakers are connected to a larger visual story. As Ogunlesi explained, she did not want to just design a shoe; she wanted to create a world.
The Collection Goes Beyond Sneakers

The footwear may be the headline, but the wider lineup gives the collaboration its full identity. Alongside the reworked Air Jordan 14 and Air Jordan 14 Mule are oversized leather jackets, translucent tartan tracksuits, fitted vests, tees, and Jordan-branded microshorts. The mix brings basketball references into contact with the sharper, more confrontational silhouettes associated with Mowalola.
The tartan pieces are especially important to the collection’s visual language, while the leather outerwear adds the kind of exaggerated attitude that makes the partnership feel distinctly Mowalola. Even the Jordan branding is treated as something to manipulate rather than simply reproduce, with the campaign showing Jordan’s familiar iconography alongside Mowalola’s own motifs.
For fans who have followed the project since its first preview, the Mowalola x Air Jordan 14 collection gives considerably more than the two shoes initially teased. It is a complete wardrobe built around the same deliberately strange tension that defines “Something’s Off.”
When The Mowalola x Air Jordan 14 Collection Drops

The first release is scheduled for Saturday, September 19, exclusively through the Mowalola website. A wider global release will follow on Saturday, September 26, through select Jordan Brand stockists and other retailers.
The collaboration will also have a physical presence in London. A temporary retail and exhibition space at 95 Oxford Street is set to bring the “Something’s Off” campaign into the real world, with immersive elements designed to feel more like an extension of Mowalola’s creative universe than a conventional retail space.
For Jordan Brand, the Mowalola x Air Jordan 14 collection represents a notably unconventional take on one of its recognizable silhouettes. For Ogunlesi, it is a chance to push her world into a new arena without sanding down the qualities that made her label distinctive in the first place. The result is intentionally unfamiliar, and, judging by the campaign’s title, that was always the idea.
