1. Wizkid set to debut next album with live performance on Apple Music

Afrobeats giant Wizkid has excited fans after announcing that he will be giving a performance of his next album which he calls “More Love, Less Ego” on Apple Music on September 27. “Biggest bird bringing #AppleMusicLive to London! For one night only at the Roundhouse performing my new album. Sign up for tickets to the exclusive show: http://apple.co/AMLTickets @AppleMusic,” Wizkid tweeted. The performance will be the first time fans will get to hear the album, which is set for release later this year.

The live performance on Apple Music is another huge point for Nigerian music as it shows that global listeners are recognizing the fast-growing commercial appeal of Afrobeats. Fans will be eagerly counting down the days till they get to hear Wizkid perform “More Love, Less Ego” which comes two years after his hugely successful ‘Made In Lagos‘ album.

2. Michelle Obama announces tour for new book ‘The Light We Carry’

Michelle Obama is scheduled to head out on a six-city national tour to promote her forthcoming book, “The Light We Carry: Overcoming in Uncertain Times.” On Wednesday, Live Nation and the former first lady’s publisher, Crown, announced that Mrs. Obama would touch down in half a dozen cities. Among those include Washington D.C. (which will take place on the book’s release date of November 15), Philadelphia, Atlanta, Chicago, San Francisco, and Los Angeles.

“I am so excited to share that I will be heading across the country soon to talk with you all about my new book,” Obama, 58, said in a statement, according to reports. “This book means so much to me — it’s a collection of perspectives and practices I’ve used to keep me afloat amid uncertainty. On this tour, I’ll be sharing some personal stories and lessons that have helped me along my path, and I can’t wait to tell you more.” Organizers of the tour said Obama wanted to make stops “accessible to as many people as possible.” Tickets will go on sale to Ticketmaster-verified fans on September 28, and to the public on September 30.

Gospel star Mahalia Stein nee-Buchanan is officially off the market and she looked breathtakingly beautiful while doing it. She shared a clip of her intimate wedding ceremony on her Instagram on Tuesday, September 20.

4. Nigeria: Rita Dominic denies welcoming twins

Nollywood actress Rita Dominic had debunked the reports of her welcoming a set of twins. The movie star made this known via her Twitter page on Wednesday, September 21. She shared a gif with the caption “Fake News.”

There had been several reports on the matter flying on social media . According to the reports, the movie star and her hubby, Fidelis Anosike welcomed a set of twins far away in the United Kingdom. This is coming months after the actress had a star-studded wedding.

5. Iwobi nominated for Premier League Player of the Month

In the wake of his impressive displays for Everton, Nigeria international Alex Iwobi has been nominated for Player of the Month alongside Bournemouth’s Philip Billing, Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne, and Tottenham Hotspur’s Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg. Other nominees are Aston Villa’s Jacob Ramsey and Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford.

Iwobi has already made a huge impact on Frank Lampard’s Toffees – contributing three assists in his last three English top-flight outings. Should he claim the diadem, he will be the first African to win the prize since Liverpool’s Joel Matip in February 2022. Kelechi Iheanacho was the last Super Eagle to be named EPL’s Player of the Month – a feat he achieved in March 2021. Arsenal great Ian Wright had lauded Iwobi’s impact at Everton following his excellent recent form, suggesting he could easily fit into Mikel Arteta’s Gunners. He told Wrighty’s House Podcast as quoted by Football365: “I am so pleased with the way it is going for him. I remember Arsenal fans, it’s the same thing they did with [Alex] Oxlade-Chamberlain, they ridiculed him.”
