Unorthodox Expressions: See The Best Dressed Men Across Africa – March 1

There’s no arguing the major influence celebrity style has on the rest of us. Their life is a carousel of red carpet events, film premieres, album launch parties and endless meetings and all of these have to be done in top style. After all, “I love a plain-looking celebrity.” said no one ever!

Looking back at the previous week, one can’t call it a boring week for menswear. In fact, it was arguably one of the most expressive spells we’ve had in a long time. Some of our favourite fashionable male celebrities let go and got even more confident; the resulting looks were much more experimental as slim-fit minimalism found itself edged out.

Here’s a look at how it played out:

South African fashion designer Rich Mnisi showed us how to add our own spin to the quadruple denim look. In the top half, he layered a multi-toned denim ‘shacket’ over a denim shirt. In the bottom half, he wore a deconstructed denim pants over a pair of denim shorts. To finish off the ensemble, he went with a pair of sneakers and a transparent crossbody bag. Major concert look right there.

Nigerian entertainment personality, Tobi Bakre looked effortlessly fly in his business casual ensemble. He layered a classic double-breasted jacket, with matching trouser, over a dotted pink shirt. For shoes, he bucked tradition and went for a pair of white sneakers that reinstated the uber coolness that is a suit and sneakers combination. For accessories, he went with a wristwatch, a pattern pocket square and a flat square pin over the jacket’s lapel.

Many more African male celebrities and influencers let their eccentric sides shine last week, and we’ve curated the most fashionable for your inspiration.
