Last Week’s Best Dressed Men Embraced Bold And Boxy Silhouettes

Last week, Black men stepped out in multi-directional fits, each favoring pieces that aligned with his style preferences and the season at hand. While some opted for understated options, others favored statement takes that brought an air of edginess to the style scene. Yet, they all managed to put a fresh twist on summery fashion staples while leaning into their individuality. In all, the best fashion moments from Black men last week played a winning hand with easy-breezy vibes.

The Looks

The twist this summer is that the looks are mainly covered—long sleeves, trousers, midi lengths—and in soft hues. At the Kenzo Spring/Summer 2024 show, Pharrell Williams put a fresh twist on cozy dressing in a Kenzo navy blue SS24 ensemble. The combination of the wrap top and midi shorts worn over a white shirt is reminiscent of the golden era of male fashion. For shoes, the Louis Vuitton men’s Creative Director went with a pair of candy apple red leather clogs and accessorized with the yellow SS24 Louis Vuitton boneless duffle bag, his signature statement sunglasses, and a baseball hat.

Neutrals continued its winning hand last week. While still doing his press run for his upcoming Netflix movie “They Cloned Tyrone,” actor John Boyega made an appearance in a full Wales Bonner look. He wore a cream turtleneck sweater over a pair of blue bootcut pants. Then, he layered the look with a grey synthetic leather coat, complete with a pair of cream leather boots. Recently, Boyega has been making a case for subtlety, and he for sure nailed this look.

There are always exceptions to every seasonal trend, of course; and for those in search of evening glitz, singer and producer Babyface provided just enough. Decked out in a shimmering $4,400 Versace blazer, he took embellishment to new heights as he made an appearance at the Hollywood Unlocked Impact Awards in style. What the outfit lacked in color, it made up for in attention-grabbing shimmers. It is summer, after all!
