Budding designer Chechi Arinze is excited to release images of her SS16 collection titled ‘Portrait of a Lady‘ which showcased at the 2015 Lagos Fashion and Design Week.

Chechi Arinze is a contemporary Nigerian women’s wear brand. The brand’s vision is to create clothing that is inspired by Africa interpreting it in a way that is not literal, creating clothing that is contemporary, authentic and multi-functional. Since being founded in 2013, Chechi Arinze has received recognition from various sources including being selected as a HeinekenLFDW finalist and recently winning Diamond Banks BET5 competition.
‘Portrait of a Lady’…
In this collection, the designer explores the multifaceted Chechi Arinze woman and the different stages she goes through on her journey to find her place in the world.
Sometimes she is demure and ladylike in shades of pink and blue. At other times she is more daring in sheer white or black.
The collection features a mixture of streamlined and voluminous silhouettes. Stretch satin was used because of how flattering it is on the female silhouette, along with sheer organza and chiffon. Most of the pieces are rendered sparingly with fresh water pearls and lace applique.
