Rihanna’s Foundation Donates $5 Million To Coronavirus Relief Organizations


Pop star, fashion and beauty business mogul, Rihanna through her foundation has donated $5 million to various organizations assisting with coronavirus relief efforts. The Clara Lionel Foundation recently announced the donation in a released statement.

The Clara Lionel Foundation, a non-profit organisation founded by Rihanna in 2012, supports and funds education and emergency response programmes around the world. The 32-year-old singer-actress named the foundation after her grandparents Clara and Lionel Braithwaite.

Rihanna joins other celebrities like Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively, Russell Wilson and Ciara, Justin Timberlake, Donatella Versace and many more who have donated money and supplies to help provide relief to people and communities overwhelmed by the coronavirus pandemic.

“When we first began this year, never could we have imagined how (the coronavirus) would so dramatically alter our lives…”

“It doesn’t matter who you are or where you’re from, this pandemic will affect us all. And for the world’s most vulnerable, the worst may be yet to come.” the foundation said in the press statement.

The statement also expressed that Rihanna, through the foundation would donate the money to Non-Governmental organizations such as Direct Relief, Feeding America, Partners In Health, the World Health Organisation’s Coronavirus Solidarity Response Fund and International Rescue Committee.

It added that the donation would be used to provide equipment for front-line healthcare workers and diagnostic labs. The money would also be used for the establishment and maintenance of intensive care units, as well as the development of vaccines and other therapies across the globe. The funds would also be used to distribute critical respiratory supplies and provide healthcare worker training and virus prevention in countries affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
