Rihanna is not just an artiste but a brand! Over the years, she has been able to build her brand around other things aside from her music. So now when you see Riri, you not only see a musician; you see a fashion and beauty mogul, you see the face of a sports brand, you see passion and you see a philanthropist at heart! There really is no Rihanna, the person, rather a brand, and an exclusive one at that! Which is why an invitation to her charity ball according to industry insight is coveted!
Rihanna’s Clara Lionel Foundation’s fourth annual The Diamond Ball held last Thursday and boy, it was quite a show! Although this year had less star power compared to the previous, still it was the place to be Thursday night.
The host for the event was Insecure star and filmmaker, Issa Rae and some of the guest in attendance included Lala Anthony, Meek Mill, Paris and Nicky Hilton, Tiffany Hadish, Trevor Noah, A$AP Rocky, Duckie Thot, Joan Smalls, Justine Skye, Keyshia Ka’oir, Gucci Mane, Teyana Taylor, Odell Beckham Jnr, Bozoma Saint John, Jasmine sanders, Serge Ibaka, Skylar Diggins and a host of others.
Donald Glover aka Childish Gambino was also in attendance and he gave a beautiful 45 minutes performance that kept the audience mesmerized the whole time; Rihanna, who was wearing an Alexis Mabille Couture jumpsuit and Chopard jewelry was even spotted being a fan girl!
While we are all for the glitz, the glam and the music, we are more impressed with any effort to help the disadvantaged. The ball was able to raise $6 million dollars for Rihanna’s Clara Lionel Foundation which would go towards global education projects, scholarships, local grants and emergency response programs.
