We’ve gotten to the time of the year when a nonstop schedule of events affords celebrities the right to make every event their runway. As this happens, the rest of us can only take down tips for when we would need them. African celebrity style is all about women, and of course, men, showing off their love for fashion with their styles and we live for a season like this.
Historically, African fashion has been synonymous with the use of African prints like Ankara, Adire and Kente to create traditional designs but with western influences in abundance, African celebrities are often spotted in designs that are more cosmopolitan than African. Whether that is a good thing or not is open to debate.
Also, that’s not to say that African fashion is facing some kind of extinction. In fact, the reverse is the case as “African fashion” is having its moment on the global scene right now. If you don’t believe, then you should see the Dior Cruise 2020 collection where the main fabric and many of the designs are an ode to African culture – yes, some have argued otherwise.
Taking a look back at the celebrity and influencer looks we fell in love with last week, we can only stan the elegant and clever styling served by some of our faves across Africa. The looks on this list certainly demand a busy social calendar to rock but even if you aren’t as socially occupied as these women, you can note a few things that will help you with your daily styling.
Here are the African celebrity styles we fell in love with last week…
