OMEGA Gives the Speedmaster 38mm a More Classic Moonwatch Look

OMEGA is bringing the Speedmaster 38mm closer to the visual language that made the Moonwatch an icon. The Swiss watchmaker has introduced seven new references that refine the collection with familiar Speedmaster details, including rounded subdials, thicker tachymeter bezels, and the coveted “Dot Over Ninety” marking. The result is a smaller Speedmaster that feels more closely connected to the watch’s historic DNA without simply recreating the classic Moonwatch.
The latest update also gives the collection a more cohesive identity across its different executions. Stainless steel, two-tone, and diamond-set versions offer distinct takes on the formula, while the five-link bracelets add another reference to the traditional Speedmaster aesthetic. Underneath the styling changes, OMEGA has retained automatic Co-axial movements, a 38mm case, and 100-meter water resistance, making the new watches as practical as they are nostalgic.
The Speedmaster 38mm Gets More Moonwatch Details

The most noticeable changes are found on the dial and bezel. OMEGA has replaced the previous oval subdials with rounded registers, giving the watches a more familiar Speedmaster profile. The dial layouts have also been simplified, with less text creating a cleaner overall appearance.
Perhaps the biggest throwback is the return of the thicker bezel with its “Dot Over Ninety” tachymeter scale. The detail is closely associated with vintage Speedmaster references and adds a stronger connection to the watches that established the model’s legendary status.
OMEGA has also fitted the new references with five-link bracelets inspired by the Moonwatch. Each bracelet incorporates the brand’s patented comfort release adjustment system, giving the vintage-inspired design a more contemporary level of wearability.
Seven New References Expand the Speedmaster 38mm

The new lineup covers several combinations of metals, colors, and finishes. The steel selection includes a black-dial model that leans heavily into the Moonwatch aesthetic, alongside a white-dial version with a blue ceramic bezel and white enamel tachymeter markings.
A warm silver-dial reference takes another approach with a grey aluminum bezel. The collection then moves into two-tone territory, pairing stainless steel with either 18K Moonshine™ Gold or 18K Sedna™ Gold.
The familiar “cappuccino” colorway also returns in a refreshed form, combining brown subdials with the warmer tones of the case. For collectors looking for something more decorative, two additional references feature ice blue or white mother-of-pearl dials.
Those editions are finished with diamond-set bezels containing 52 diamonds for a total of 1.53 carats. They give the compact Speedmaster a more jewelry-focused character while retaining the chronograph’s recognizable design language.
Automatic Movements Keep the Collection Practical

Inside the watches, OMEGA uses two automatic Co-axial movements. The six date-equipped references are powered by Calibre 3330, while the black-dial model without a date uses Calibre 3332.
Both movements deliver a 52-hour power reserve. The 38mm cases are also rated to 100 meters of water resistance, giving the watches everyday versatility beyond their retro-inspired styling.
Each model is completed by a screw-in caseback featuring the Speedmaster Seahorse medallion. It is a small detail, but one that reinforces the collection’s connection to OMEGA’s broader Speedmaster heritage.
The new 38mm Speedmaster references ultimately occupy an interesting space in the collection. They are not Moonwatch replicas, nor are they trying to be. Instead, OMEGA has taken the proportions of the 38mm platform and brought its visual language closer to the design cues that made the Speedmaster famous in the first place.
