Head Designer, Han Chong’s Spring/Summer 2019 as presented at NYFW effort saw a lineup of ultra-chic styles. The space used for the show was converted into an abstract design that seemed like something from a Sci-Fi movie. Models in sleek back hair and minimal makeup walked out in pieces that were in total contrast of the runway decor; a smart idea as the runway emphasized the romantic touch and edgy vibe interjected into the pieces.
At the front row of the show were influencers and fashion favourites like Olivia Palermo, Caroline Daur, Danielle Bernstein and Aimee Song. These attendees were witness to how the designer, Han Chong’s collection really represented sexy and modest, and at the same time giving off playful and flirty vibes.
The collection featured eye-catching designs like cutouts, mixed prints, asymmetric necklines, fluid dresses, drapings and ruffles, all of which came in varying textures, fabrics, geometric motifs and patterns that inspired a “risk-taking” mentality. There was, of course, an unsurprising use of colours in varying shades; as is to be expected from a collection that is challenging the norm.
While the lineup had a lot to choose from, there was also the fact that it was exuding a sort of retro vibe thanks to the embroidered daisies on the punctuated lace dresses that were super cute and unapologetically feminine.
Here’s a look at some of the best looks from the collection…
