The 61st edition of the Miss South Africa pageant held this past Friday, August 9, at the Sun Arena in Pretoria and with it came the crowning of a new queen, Miss Zozibini Tunzi. The queen was crowned with the Ubuhle Bethungo Lenkosazana, which means “Beauty of the Rainbow” in the Zulu language. The crown is said to represent the diversity of South Africa and is embellished with thousands of zirconia stones.
For 25-year-old Zozibini Tunzi, who is a public relations student from Eastern Cape, this win gives her an opportunity to make a difference. Speaking about what she is most looking forward to during her reign, the 25-year-old said in an interview that she cannot wait to meet new people. “I love people so much and this is the kind of job where you get to meet different people every day.”
Zozibini Tunzi is expected to compete at the Miss Universe 2019 pageant currently scheduled for December 19, 2019. She had previously competed in the Miss South Africa competition in 2017 where she made it to the semi-finals sporting long hair / weave but came back this year looking even bolder in her natural low cut hair. This was one of her selling points, especially on social media and it’s one many, especially the judges bought.
We are definitely looking forward to seeing Zozibini achieve great things.
