With a career spanning almost 30 years, the life and times of American R&B singer-songwriter and actress Mary J Blige is one for the books. In the October 2020 Issue of Health Magazine, the star talks about navigating self-love as a key to a fulfilling life. 

The legendary 49-year-old has had such an illustrious career since she was 18, selling more than 50 million records worldwide, winning nine Grammy Awards, and receiving three Golden Globes and two Academy Award nominations (Best Supporting Actress and Original Song for 2017’s Mudbound). Being someone who has always loved her own company, she says, “when you’re by yourself, you’re either going to be your own best friend and be honest and real with yourself, or you’re going to be your own worst enemy and deceive yourself.
