South African iconic luxury fashion brand, David Tlale is a label that stands out from the crowd and it was one of my best collections on the runway for the night on Day 2 of the just concluded Lagos Bridal Fashion Week. The designer showcased his first-ever bridal collection that was unpredictable, far from the cliché of typical bridal offerings with looks that would do well on the red carpet as well as look amazing on a bridal team. The brand did well to offer both male and female looks that were impeccable and beautiful.
The collection which broke the traditional mould of a bridal collection could have easily been termed elegant couture. Made for the young, bold and elegant, the collection embodied beauty while exuding sensuality, luxury and indulgence with no need for pretense.
The collection featured white, hues of salmon and other rich tones in prints made out of soft lace edges, twill and satin, beautified with in-house-created flowers, ostrich feathers and appliqué. The men’s looks featured perfectly tailored suits which were strong and regal with the inclusion of Japanese-inspired kimonos.
The closing runway look for the night was a one-of-a-kind David Tlale dress inspired by the elegant new Demi Sec Cap Classique. According to David, the bridal collection was inspired by the need to not only make brides feel beautiful but also give them a slight edge of fashion as brides don’t have to simply look like princesses; they also have to bring their own sense of style to their big day.
A look at the collection…
