Ever since bursting onto the scene with her famous web series, “Awkward Black Girl,” in which she inundated us with laughs and sparked thoughtful discussions about race, class, and gender, Issa Rae has been so dear to many. Although the writer, producer, and director gave us a little window into her life with her memoir “The Misadventures of a Clumsy Black Girl,” she has been able to keep much of her personal life a secret.
On July 26, the Insecure star shared a series of wedding pictures to her Instagram accompanied with a hilarious caption––true to character. “A) Impromptu photoshoot in a custom @verawanggang dress. B) My girls came to help me, but they all coincidentally had on the same dress! They were sooooo embarrassed. C) Then I took a few flicks with Somebody’s Husband,“ the 36-year-old wrote.
Over the weekend, Rae headed out to the South of France to wed her longtime fiancé, businessman Louis Diame in a private wedding ceremony. While they have occasionally walked red carpets together, but for the most part, Issa and Louis have stayed completely out of the spotlight, which is why making their wedding photos public is such a delight. Many details about the special day remain top-secret for now, but that isn’t surprising as Issa likes to leave personal matters personal.
The Dress
For her wedding, the bride chose a custom tulle Vera Wang haute couture ball gown with a sweetheart neckline paired with metallic silver peep-toe pumps. She styled the look with a simple pair of diamond stud earrings. Her makeup by celebrity makeup artiste, Joanna Simkin was fresh and glowing, while Felicia Leatherwood styled her hair in a voluminous, slicked-back low ponytail. A sheer chapel-length veil completed the bridal look as the star carried a lush pastel peach-and-pink bouquet of roses for her walk down the aisle. The beautiful images were captured by Lauren Fair.
Second dress
Rae chose another custom number by Vera Wang for her wedding reception look. The lily-white Italian silk A-line dress boasts a plunging V-neck and a layered tulle skirt accented with a dramatic front slit. The groom, on the other hand, looked dashing beside Issa as he donned a red Dolce & Gabbana single-buttoned velvet suit with brocade patterned lapel and matching flap pockets. His boutonniere matched the actress’s bouquet, and he finished off his look with a bow tie.
Along with photos of her gorgeous gown and bridal beauty look, Issa also shared a glimpse of her bridal party, as well as images featuring her dashing groom.
