The 36-year-old actress rose to fame in 2011 when she starred in her own YouTube web series, which she also wrote and produced, The Misadventures of Awkward Black Girl (which by the way you should really see if you haven’t already). The series follows the story of J, Issa’s character–our awkward black girl navigating life’s uncomfortable situations and it is hilarious! 10/10 recommend.
