Nigerian designer Emmy Kasbit who’s known for his keen ability to strike a good balance between menswear and womenswear has taken it up a notch this time with his new SS17 collection. The collection, Ties that Bind features an interesting fusion of nude pastels, bold solid colours with belted pieces that go around the arms and waist which expressly details the name of the collection.
The designs are clean, simple and minimalistic and will be well appreciated by the adventurous millenial whose taste in style is bold and unconventional. In addition to the use of belts and choker pieces, the design details include trendy cut-outs, culotte pants, faux pockets and misplaced pockets.
For the lookbook aesthetic, the pieces, which are all made from 100% locally sourced fabrics, are posted up against a rich burgundy backdrop which in turn gives the collection its alluring and warm ambience. According to the designer, the collection focuses on the interchangeable aspect of mens and women’s clothing.
