Television’s biggest night returned to the spotlight as the 76th Primetime Emmy Awards dazzled fans and critics alike. After a unique ceremony in January due to the Hollywood dual strikes, the 2024 Emmys finally graced the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles on Sunday, September 15. While the night honored TV’s finest performances, it was also a parade of style, with stars and creators hitting the red carpet in looks that were nothing short of extraordinary. From timeless elegance to futuristic flair, the fashion at the 2024 Emmy Awards did not disappoint.
Memorable ladies
One of the night’s standout looks belonged to Selena Gomez, who looked every bit the TV royalty she is. Nominated for her role in “Only Murders in the Building,” Gomez graced the red carpet in a custom black silk-and-velvet gown from Ralph Lauren Collection. The sleek halter dress, hand-embellished with over 600 diamond-cut crystals on its neckline, was the epitome of glamorous simplicity. Complementing her gown with diamond drop earrings and matching bracelets and rings, Gomez’s look was a testament to how minimalism and sparkle can make an unforgettable statement.
Jennifer Aniston, a perpetual red carpet darling, showed once again why she remains one of Hollywood’s fashion icons. Aniston stepped out in a silver strapless number by Oscar de la Renta, adorned with delicate pearls that added just the right touch of shimmer. The sleek column dress highlighted her signature understated elegance, proving that simplicity is often the ultimate sophistication.
Sofía Vergara brought her signature bombshell energy to the Emmys red carpet in a jaw-dropping strapless Dolce & Gabbana gown. The form-fitting dress, with its plunging neckline and ruched detailing, highlighted Vergara’s curves in the most glamorous way. Vergara’s outfit was both daring and classic, encapsulating the sultry sophistication for which she’s known.
Trending colors
A bold color trend on the red carpet was the radiant hue of red, seen on several stars including “Abbott Elementary’s” Janelle James, “The Rookie: Feds” star Niecy Nash-Betts, and “Reservation Dogs” breakout Nava Mau. James looked striking in a red gown that featured dramatic folds and intricate detailing. Meanwhile, Nash-Betts stunned in a figure-hugging gown that perfectly blended old Hollywood glamour with modern flair.
While red was a popular fashion choice, shades of pink were also trending at the 2024 Emmy Awards. Meryl Streep led the charge in a chic bubblegum pink pantsuit paired with a pussy bow blouse. Eiza González followed suit with a stunning pale pink Tamara Ralph gown, while “Hacks” star Hannah Einbinder made waves in a dusty pink Louis Vuitton number that featured layers of crepe jersey and tulle. Pink was definitely in the air, and these stars showed just how versatile the color can be.
Unforgettable men
The male attendees at the Emmys didn’t shy away from making bold fashion choices either. “The Bear” star Jeremy Allen White kept things classic yet polished in a sleek black tuxedo, while “Fellow Travelers” actor Matt Bomer went for a tie-less look, choosing a sharp and modern suit. Meanwhile, Scotsmen Alan Cumming and Richard Gadd both opted for kilts, paying homage to their heritage in style. Cumming’s cream Teddy von Ranson jacket added a contemporary twist to the traditional ensemble, while Gadd’s plaid cummerbund doubled as a scarf.
Even the night’s hosts, father-son duo Eugene and Dan Levy brought their A-game in head-turning suits. Dan Levy stood out in a Loewe shirt with a sculptural neckline, a look that wouldn’t have seemed out of place in one of his “Schitt’s Creek” episodes.
The awards
Amid the dazzling fashion, the 2024 Emmy Awards also celebrated some of television’s most critically acclaimed performances. FX’s “Shogun” and “The Bear” emerged as the evening’s big winners, with Shogun’s Anna Sawai and Hiroyuki Sanada taking home the award for Outstanding Lead Actress and Actor in a Drama Series respectively. Both actors also made history as the first Japanese people to win those categories.

Meanwhile, Richard Gadd’s “Baby Reindeer” claimed the Best Writing in a Drama Series award, further establishing itself as one of Netflix’s most controversial and thought-provoking hits. The night was a celebration of exceptional talent, with each win punctuating the glitz and glamour of the red carpet.
