Emma Roberts and Cody John exchanged vows at a private family estate in Sun Valley, Idaho, during a ceremony attended by their closest friends and relatives.
The outdoor wedding reportedly lasted around 45 minutes despite temperatures climbing to approximately 95 degrees. Guests watched as the couple stood on a wooden platform surrounded by Idaho’s scenic mountain landscape, creating an intimate atmosphere that contrasted with the lavish Hollywood weddings often seen in celebrity circles.
One of the day’s most touching moments came when Roberts walked down the aisle holding hands with her 5-year-old son, Rhodes, whom she shares with former partner Garrett Hedlund. The heartfelt gesture underscored the importance of family throughout the celebration.

Among the notable guests at Emma Roberts’ wedding was Julia Roberts, who attended alongside her husband, cinematographer Danny Moder.
The Academy Award-winning actress has long shared a close relationship with her niece, and her presence added another memorable family moment to the ceremony. Emma, the daughter of actor Eric Roberts, has frequently spoken about her admiration for Julia over the years while also carving out her own successful career in film and television.
Close family members, friends, and members of the bridal party rounded out the guest list, helping keep the celebration personal rather than star-studded.
A Custom Monique Lhuillier Gown Steals the Show
Fashion quickly became one of the biggest talking points from Emma Roberts’ wedding to Cody John, thanks to the bride’s custom-designed Monique Lhuillier gown.
Ahead of the ceremony, Vogue documented Roberts’ final fitting at the designer’s Los Angeles bridal salon, where she was joined by her mother Kelly Cunningham, sister Grace Nickels, cousins, friends, and her stylists, Brit and Kara Elkin, who also served as bridesmaids.
Rather than choosing a traditional bright white dress, Roberts wanted something that reflected her love of antique treasures, vintage books, and historical ephemera.
“I wanted it to feel very vintage-inspired,” she explained during the fitting. She also revealed that she hoped the finished look would resemble “an antique ghost doll.”
To bring that vision to life, Lhuillier created a custom tea-stained fabric color named “antique rose,” giving the silk chiffon gown an ethereal appearance.
Nine Months of Work Produced Five Bridal Looks
The craftsmanship behind Roberts’ gown was as remarkable as its design.
According to Monique Lhuillier, the dress required nearly nine months of work and close to 1,000 hours of hand craftsmanship. Approximately 25 yards of silk chiffon were used to create the flowing silhouette.
The design featured a lightly revealed corset beneath layers of chiffon, a dramatic slit, and a removable lace shawl that transformed the gown throughout the evening.
Lhuillier explained that the convertible elements effectively created five different bridal looks from a single dress. Once the lace overlay was removed, the gown transformed into a strapless silhouette for the reception.
Roberts completed the bridal ensemble with an antique rose silk tulle chapel-length veil and a delicate lace voilette, adding to the vintage-inspired aesthetic she envisioned from the beginning.
An Emotional Reveal Before the Wedding
The final fitting became one of the most emotional moments leading up to the ceremony.
When Roberts stepped out wearing the completed gown for the first time, several members of her family and bridal party became visibly emotional.
Surprised by the reaction, the actress laughed before asking, “Are people actually crying?”
Her mother immediately embraced her, calling the look “absolutely stunning,” while the celebration continued with hugs and a champagne toast.
Later, Roberts’ cousin Charlotte Long remarked that the bride looked “like a doll,” noting that the final look perfectly reflected Emma’s longtime love of vintage dolls and collectibles.

After the ceremony, Roberts changed into a second Monique Lhuillier design that was equally memorable.
Instead of another white gown, she chose an archival two-piece look from the designer’s Fall 2004 collection. The ensemble featured a black Chantilly lace corset paired with a tea-length layered silk organza skirt.
Roberts said she loved the unexpected choice, describing it as a look that could belong “100 years ago, or from now.”
The after-party outfit further highlighted the timeless aesthetic that defined the entire wedding weekend.
From Private Romance to Marriage
Roberts and John first sparked romance rumors in 2022 after mutual friends introduced them. They kept much of their relationship out of the spotlight, occasionally sharing glimpses of their romance on social media.
In July 2024, the couple announced their engagement with a playful Instagram post showing Roberts’ diamond ring. She captioned the image, “Putting this here before my mom tells everyone.”
Exactly one year later, the couple fulfilled that promise by exchanging vows in Idaho.
With a deeply personal ceremony, thoughtful fashion choices, and loved ones gathered to celebrate, Emma Roberts and Cody John’s wedding, this marked the beginning of a new chapter for the couple. While they have largely kept their relationship private, their wedding day offered fans a rare and heartfelt glimpse into a love story built away from Hollywood’s constant spotlight.
