September 15 is officially Diddy Day in New York City. After the unveiling of “The Love Album: Off The Grid,” Diddy paid a visit to Times Square, where he was awarded the key to the city by New York Mayor Eric Adams for “his contributions to music, business, and philanthropy.” “Today, I accept this key not just for me, but for every dreamer, every hustler, every artist, and every kid from New York who dares to dream big,” Diddy said in response to the honor.

“To Mayor Adams and the city of New York: I promise to keep giving to this city that made me. Thank you for recognizing my journey and my mission to uplift and empower. Let’s continue to make history together.” In an Instagram video, Diddy kept the energy high while riding around Manhattan with the key in hand. “We f**kin’ did it! Harlem, we did it! Mount Vernon, we did it! The Bronx, we f**kin’ did it! Let’s go!” the billionaire mogul exclaimed.

2. Odumodublvck signs exclusive deal with Def Jam Recordings

In a major industry move, Odumodublvck, the rapper behind the hit track “Declan Rice,” has officially inked a deal with the renowned American record label, Def Jam Recordings. The signing ceremony took place on September 14 in the United States. The announcement sent waves through the music world, with viral videos capturing the artist’s exhilarating unveiling as the latest addition to the Def Jam roster flooding X (formerly Twitter).

Odumodublvck’s remarkable achievement places him among a constellation of global stars under the Def Jam banner, including heavyweights like Justin Bieber, DJ Khaled, and Rihanna. Notably, he shares this prestigious label with another Nigerian luminary, Adekunle Gold, who joined Def Jam Recordings earlier this year.

Fans and industry peers are mourning the untimely passing of 702 band member, Irish Grinstead. The singer died at the age of 43. The tragic news was announced on social media late Saturday evening, September 16, by her sister, LeMisha Grinstead. “It is with great sadness that I have to let you know that my beautiful sister and friend has passed away this evening. She has had a long battle, and she is finally at peace,” wrote LeMisha in a post accompanied by a photo of Irish.

Fellow group member Kameelah “Meelah” Williams shared that she was heartbroken and devastated by the loss on Sunday, September 17. Additional details about the singer’s health issues have not been disclosed to the public. However, in December 2022, the group informed fans that Irish would be taking a step back to focus on unspecified ailments.

Our condolences to the friends and family of the deceased.

5. Gabriel Martinelli forced off through injury to compound misery for Gunners

Arsenal lost Brazilian forward Gabriel Martinell to injury in the first half of Sunday’s Premier League clash at Everton. Martinelli thought he had put Arsenal in front against Everton at Goodison Park, only to see his effort ruled out for offside after a VAR check. The Brazilian’s misery was then compounded when he was forced out of the match minutes later after picking up an injury. Leandro Trossard came off the bench to take over from Martinelli and ended up scoring the winning goal with a sublime volley in the second half.

Arsenal will be hoping the injury is not too serious, as the Gunners are at the start of a busy schedule at home and abroad. PSV are next up in the Champions League before Tottenham visit the Emirates Stadium in a week’s time in the Premier League. Arsenal will also play Brentford and Bournemouth before the end of the month.
