Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodriguez are married. The soccer star and his longtime girlfriend tied the knot in a private civil ceremony in Cascais, Portugal, on August 11, 2026, with their five children in attendance.

The couple confirmed the news on Instagram by sharing a photograph of their hands, showing off their wedding bands. Ronaldo captioned the post simply, “C❤️G,” marking the beginning of a new chapter after nearly a decade together.

The ceremony took place in Cascais, a coastal resort town roughly 20 miles west of Lisbon. According to a press release, the wedding was a “private and intimate moment” attended by the couple’s five children.

The marriage comes one year after Rodriguez publicly announced the couple’s engagement. On August 11, 2025, she shared a photograph of her hand resting over Ronaldo’s, displaying a large oval-shaped diamond ring.

“Sí, quiero. En esta y en todas mis vidas,” she wrote at the time, which translates to “Yes, I do. In this and in all my lives.”

A year later, the engagement has officially become a marriage.

A Relationship That Began in Madrid

Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodriguez first met in Madrid in 2016 while Rodriguez was working as a sales assistant at a Gucci store. Their relationship quickly developed, and the couple made their first public appearances together the following year.

Rodriguez later recalled the early stages of their relationship in her Netflix reality series “I Am Georgina.” Ronaldo also discussed their romance on the show, describing Rodriguez as someone he initially found interesting and mature.

The soccer star said he did not expect the relationship to become as serious as it did, but eventually realized that he had fallen in love with her.

“I didn’t expect it, honestly,” Ronaldo said. “But after a while, I felt that she was the woman of my life.”

Their relationship has since become one of the most closely followed romances in sports and entertainment, with the couple regularly sharing glimpses of their family life on social media.

The newlyweds share two daughters, Alana Martina and Bella Esmeralda, while Rodriguez has also helped raise Ronaldo’s three other children: Cristiano Jr. and twins Eva and Mateo.

The couple experienced a devastating loss in 2022 when they announced the death of their newborn son, Ángel, who was Bella’s twin.

Despite the intense public attention surrounding their lives, Ronaldo and Rodriguez have largely kept their family at the center of their relationship. Their children’s presence at the wedding made the ceremony a particularly personal milestone for the couple.

Rodriguez has previously spoken about the moment Ronaldo proposed, revealing that she was shocked by the surprise.

In a December 2025 interview with Elle Spain, she recalled needing time to process the engagement ring, which she described as “gorgeous.” She also joked that it was “the least he could offer me after 10 years of waiting.”

The proposal came after years of speculation about whether the couple would eventually marry. Although Ronaldo and Rodriguez had built a family and maintained a long-term relationship, they had not publicly confirmed wedding plans until now.

Their August 11 ceremony therefore marks a significant moment for a couple who have spent almost a decade together.

A New Chapter for Ronaldo

The wedding also comes at a busy point in Ronaldo’s soccer career. At 41, the Portuguese forward continues to play for Saudi Pro League club Al Nassr, having previously starred for Sporting, Manchester United, Real Madrid and Juventus.

Ronaldo has scored nearly 1,000 goals across his professional and international career and recently appeared at his sixth World Cup, matching Lionel Messi’s record for the most appearances at the men’s tournament.

He has also said that the 2026 World Cup was his final appearance at the competition, although he has stopped short of making a definitive decision about his future with Portugal.

For now, however, the biggest milestone in Ronaldo’s life is off the soccer field.

After years together, Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodriguez are officially husband and wife. Their private wedding in Portugal brings their long-running love story into a new phase, with their children present as they celebrated the occasion together.
