Birthday Girl: 20 Times Ciara Totally Proved Her Fashion Icon Status
W
hen Ciara first graced our screens in 2004 with her hit song Goodies, we didn’t know how long she’d stay on it. But one thing was for sure, a girl with sound and swag like hers certainly wasn’t one to take the back seat too soon. And that was right! 18 years later, we have watched her fine-tune her sound, sense of fashion and personal style––and the result has simply been phenomenal. It’s safe to say that the hitmaker, who turned 37 on October 25, has indeed come into her own, leaving no room for l’ordinaire. Ciara fashion style.
Ciara’s fashion + style
Essence Magazine describes Ciara’s style as an effortless, tomboy chic style, and we totally agree. The effortlessness of her fashion takes is visible in how “easy” fashion looks on her, giving the impression that she doesn’t break a sweat to look good. Whether she plays the casual or red carpet card, the result is always an ensemble that makes a strong fashion statement without having to scream.
The tomboy chic aspect of her style is equally evident whether she dresses up or down. While the mother-of-three has stayed true to her hip-hop swag through the years, recent years have seen it become more refined bordering more on chic than street. This is evident in the fact that the singer/dancer/businesswoman can easily make a sneakers-fit appear to be a power-pump look. And yes, she never forgets to throw in a good dose of effortlessness to bring it all together nicely.
Ciara’s recent style statements
Back in July, Ciara and her family went full-on Dolce & Gabbana at the brand’s Alta Moda show in Sicily’s Ortigia Island, Italy. In a look that claimed a spot on this year’s fashion hall-of-fame, the star shimmered in a D&G gold number fitting the four-day extravaganza. Her halterneck dress featured an extra thigh-high slit that put her toned legs on display, a glamorous embellishment of multi-colored crystals, and an embroidery work inspired by a mosaic found in the Monreale cathedral. She finished off the look with a tiara and golden platform sandals. Regal.
Another major fashion moment etched in red carpet memory is her outfit of choice for the 2021 MET Gala. The challenge was America: A Lexicon of Fashion to which the star rose to the occasion in a lime green cut-out number flaunting the number 3. The outfit gave a nod to her husband, Russell Wilson as it’s of a similar color to his color-rush Seahawks jersey. But the tribute doesn’t stop there. She went on to rock his Super Bowl XLVII ring and finished off the look with a “football” purse. And yes, the 3 on the dress is Wilson’s jersey number. We can boldly say that Ciara scored major with this as few things are as American as American football.
Just like fine wine, Ciara’s style has only gotten better with time. And today, we don the hat to this super-duper fashion sensation with a lineup of some of our favorite style moments in the past year. From casual takes to formal offerings, we can attest that this girl has indeed honed in on her authentic style, and she has nothing left to prove. Ciara fashion style moments.
