A passionate writer, self proclaimed chef and lover of music…
Nigerian-born, London-based blogger, Maryam Salam is joining the likes of Basma Kahie in breaking age-long fashion restrictions, one hijab at a time. The founder of ‘Blogger Point’ and graduate of Entrepreneurship and International Business decided to build her faith by transitioning to modest fashion. Her decision cost her a few things but bought her a new life in faith and a clearer future.
Being a hijabi in this millennial generation isn’t as easy as one might think especially for someone like Maryam Salam who transitioned. In a world where there are serious cases of Islamophobia, by becoming more intentional about her lifestyle and faith, Maryam is defying the odds.
In an interview, the Muslimah blogger talked about launching her brand, Arewa Scarves. According to her:
“Arewa Scarves is a social enterprise providing carefully selected and high-quality scarves to suit every skin tone while supporting girl-child education in Nigeria by donating £1 from every sale to our charity partner Global Hope Integrated Empowerment (an NGO in Nigeria for women and children) executing these aims.”
Arewa Scarves has exposed us to the authenticity of Maryam as her vision and core values are obvious in the way that she’s impacting the world with her brand and we love that she’s doing it all with guts, grace and style. This is why she’s our June 2019 blogger to watch out for.
