1. Beyoncé becomes the first Black woman to wear the Tiffany Diamond
American jeweler, Tiffany & Co. has unveiled a new historic campaign featuring Queen B, Beyoncé and husband Jay-Z appearing alongside a never-before-seen painting by Jean-Michel Basquiat. The Houston-born singer became the first Black woman to wear the prestigious diamond, with 128.54 carats and 82 facets. It was previously worn by socialite Mary Whitehouse, actress Audrey Hepburn and actress and singer Lady Gaga.
Tiffany & Co. said it will donate $2 million towards scholarships for historically black colleges as part of its partnership with the Carters. The campaign, “About Love,” is set to launch in September.

Nigerian music star, Wizkid has been hailed after his hit song, Essence, featuring singer, Tems, made it to number 16 on the Billboard Hot 100. This comes after the song made a massive jump from the 44th spot to the 16th spot. Currently, Essence is the highest-charting Nigerian song in the chart history.
The low-tempo song undoubtedly received a boost after the American singer, Justin Bieber joined Wizkid and Tems on the remix. This marks Essence’s 7th week on Billboard Hot 100. It should be noted that the Deluxe version of Wizkid’s Made in Lagos album releases on Friday.
3. South Africa: Netflix finally announces the second season of the globally anticipated series, Blood and Water
Netflix has confirmed that the second season of its acclaimed teen drama, “Blood and Water” will premiere on September 24, 2021. According to the streaming giant, the new season promises unlikely alliances, and more plot twists as the “Parkhurst clan up the ante on their quest for the truth.”
Netflix confirmed the renewal of the show in June 2020 with a viral video of the series’ cast and director. Blood and Water gained international acclaim and trended globally last year for its well-loved storyline and acting.
4. Convicted ex-Chadian leader Hissène Habré dies at 79

Chad’s ex-ruler Hissène Habré has died at the age of 79 while serving a life sentence for crimes against humanity. He was being treated for a coronavirus infection, reports say.
Habré was found guilty in 2016 of crimes committed while he was president from 1982 to 1990.
The conviction was the result of a landmark trial in Senegal. It was the first time an African Union-backed court had tried a former ruler for human rights abuses. Habré was accused of being behind rape, sexual slavery and ordering killings while in power.
5. Premier League confirms 16 new positive COVID cases in the latest round of testing
The Premier League confirms there have been 16 new positive cases of COVID-19 following the latest two rounds of testing.

The Premier League says 16 players and club staff have tested positive for coronavirus over the past week. Across two rounds, the Premier League conducted 3,060 tests between 16 and 22 August, with 12 positive cases recorded in the first round and an additional four in the second.
The figure marks another increase after nine positive cases in the first week and 11 in the week ending 15 August. The Premier League will maintain its twice-weekly testing program. Chelsea forward Christian Pulisic missed Sunday’s win over Arsenal after testing positive for the virus, as did Arsenal defender Ben White.
